Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director of Facilities Management/Safety/Security plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and controls the activities of Plant Operations and maintenance functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities and grounds of the Hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in PI activities. Assures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating the budget. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, State, Federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Manages and oversees hospital safety program in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and personnel.
What qualifications you will need:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: American Society of Hospital Engineers (ASHE) preferred. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 7 days of hire. Requires biannual CPI training.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, minimum of an associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
Experience: 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have (5) years of management experience, managing at least 2 people in a (acute and/or skilled) hospital environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent facilitation, negotiation and communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Must have a working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertinent to healthcare facilities (both acute and skilled nursing), including JCAHO, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, OSHA and EPA. Possess good working knowledge of facility's mechanical systems, including energy management and control system, HVAC systems, medical gases, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection/alarm systems, etc.
