Description of Position

Responsible for directing a laboratory school (infant - 5 year olds, 5 classrooms, 10 full-time teachers) as part of the Yavapai College Early Childhood Education program including all aspects of planning, directing, managing, supervising and coordinating the operation of a child development center for Yavapai College students and a high-quality childcare program for the children of students, staff, faculty and the community.
The successful Family Enrichment Center (FEC) director:
-takes an active leadership and advocacy role at the college by supporting the college mission, vision and initiatives
-demonstrates a willingness to take direction and work as part of the Yavapai College community and excels in working as part of a team and creating a positive culture for FEC teachers, staff, families and children
-establishes and maintains a positive rapport with families and members of the community
-identifies policies and procedures that align with Arizona Department of Health requirements for licensed childcare centers
-ensures that the center meets National Accreditation Commission and Department of Economic Security standards
-directs assessment and quality improvement including compliance with regulatory bodies, Quality First assessment standards and accreditation criteria
-implements staff/parent feedback as appropriate
-maintains required child records for licensing and accreditation
-maintains required personnel records (including professional development records) for licensing and accreditation
-trains new student workers, subs, and teaching staff in initial DHS required trainings (Health/Safety/Mandatory Reporter, SIDS, etc.), DES required trainings (Foundations 1), Quality First required trainings (CLASS 1), and NAC requirements (standards)
-plans and implements professional development opportunities for all staff based on licensing and accreditation criteria
-maintains databases for governing bodies (extranet, AZ ECE Registry Accounts, Centralized Background Check processes)
- excels in personnel management, including hiring, training/coaching/mentoring, staffing, communicating with and evaluating mentor teachers, teacher technicians, substitute teachers, and student workers
- excels in financial management, including budget oversight, resolving payment issues, grants management, contract compliance, scholarships, and fundraising
- collaborates with the Education & Early Childhood Education Program Director and ECE/EDU faculty to ensure seamless educational programming for ECE/EDU students including participation in curriculum review and advisory board meetings, arranging and facilitating student classroom observations, and scheduling and supporting practicum students/student teachers
- oversees family (client) relations, including participation in parent groups (FOFEC), providing parent support, communication with families, facilitation and mediation of parent issues and child behavior issues, acting as a liaison to outside resources and planning parent events/training
- maintains facility oversight, including safety monitoring, regulatory compliance, and communication with YC Facilities and Police departments
- manages marketing, public relations, advocacy, advertising materials and publicity, tours and presentations, networking with local and state ECE professionals
Minimum Expectations & Requirements

--Baccalaureate degree or higher in early childhood education/child development
OR
--Baccalaureate degree or higher in a related field (i.e., social work, psychology, special education or elementary education) with 12 college credits (semester hours in early childhood/child development completed or in progress)
AND
- Six college credits (semester hours) in business administration/ program management completed or in progress
OR
--Nine CEUs in business administration/program management completed or in progress
OR
--State-approved Director/Administrator Credential
AND
-Current CPR/First Aid certification
-Level 2 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
-Two years of experience working in an early care and education setting
-Experience working in a licensed facility

Preferred Skills & Abilities

-One year of experience in administration of an early childhood program and a minimum of two years of teaching in an early care and education classroom
- 45+ hours (or 3 credit hours) of professional development or coursework in child development and program management, supervision and leadership
-Professional work experience in a child development center and willingness to step into classrooms in various capacities when necessary
-Experience managing a child development center
-Experience working in a licensed facility in Arizona
-The ability to provide professional development and support to families and teachers in areas like health, safety and nutrition, child guidance, curriculum, and diversity
-Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice
-Knowledge of database software, Project Management software, spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software
-Organizational skills
-Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment and the ability to be credentialed to teach ECE courses
-Familiar with state and national regulations related to lab schools and early care settings
