Work Arrangement: This role is primarily based in the office environment.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, is a senior finance leader who will oversee all aspects of the financial planning and analysis function at Flair Airlines. The role is responsible for the effective management and leadership of annual budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis. Additionally, this senior leader ensures that Flair Airlines continues to develop and achieve strategic financial goals and plans as well as monitoring consumer trends and competitor (other Canadian Airlines and global ULCC's) activity.

This role plays a critical leadership role in the continuous improvement of executive decision making. Through strong financial planning, analysis and management reporting, you will assess, interpret and forecast financial performance. The role requires an individual that can work in a fast paced, evolving environment. Troubleshooting skills, excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are also a requirement for this role.

Primary Job Functions:
  • A business partner to management and executives, jointly developing budgets, forecasting, reporting, analysis, and providing insight into a wide range of business and financial decisions.
  • Leads the annual Business Planning and Budget cycle. This includes co-ordination across all business units on requirements and maintenance of the overall planning calendar.
  • Maintain financial models and ensure forecasting initiatives remains aligned with changing business conditions
  • Conducts meetings and presentations internally with internal Business Planning teams and Senior Management to communicate deliverables and results.
  • Prepare recommendations and provides valuable performance analysis and reporting by highlighting important business performance risks, issues and opportunities for management
  • As the Company expert in planning and budgeting, continues to implement best practices, provides ongoing analysis of business
  • Collaborates with the commercial and revenue management teams, gathering insights from data analytics to deliver sound revenue planning
  • Prepares the Company's long-term financial forecast, financial models, and valuations.
  • Initiate analysis of monthly variances, and works directly with operational management, executives, and the financial reporting team to identify and resolve variances to plan.
  • Provide recommendations for revenue and cost drivers, as well as process improvements.
  • Effectively manages, develop, and leads a team of high-performing financial analysts and professionals
  • Develops and maintains dashboards and KPIs to support analysis of the business, including variances to plan, and tracking of cost-saving and revenue initiatives.
  • Prepares monthly presentations, summarizing results for executive management and board of directors' committees.


Safety Duties, Accountabilities, Authorities, and Responsibilities:
  • Involved in proactive risk assessments and remediation of any internal or externally identified fax compliance issues.
  • Encourage active participation in the SMS for all FAL personnel.


Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or related fields.
  • MBA an asset
  • Professional Designation (CA, CPA, CFA)

Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience, ideally within a senior financial planning and analysis role
  • Significant experience demonstrating analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills in managing moderate to complex financial issues
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and public company financial reporting and practice
  • Expert financial modeling, forecasting and budgeting abilities
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a focus on driving insights to support strong executive decision making
  • Advanced practical knowledge and understanding of strong business management foundations (financial and operational)
  • Aviation industry experience is an asset

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Articulate, persuasive, and able to build confidence with the financial peers, executive management, division managers, and the financial community.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills, capable of communicating at all levels of the organization.
