SUMMARY

We are seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to lead and manage our food-based healthcare initiatives, all of which connect to NYS Medicaid reform (1115 waiver). Foodlink's food-based healthcare includes piloting and scaling the following nutrition services: 1) pantry stocking 2) produce prescriptions 3) clinically-approved meal service 4) nutrition counseling 5) cooking supplies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Food-Based Healthcare will have oversight for the piloting and scaling of all five nutrition services described in the 1115 Waiver. This role will work with a cross-departmental team to develop workflows and operational plans for each of the nutrition services. All of this work will focus on providing people with knowledge about healthy eating, skills to prevent chronic disease, and awareness of food's role in health and wellness.

This role will be responsible for liaising between our Finance department and the healthcare system to create effective and timely billing practices. They will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with community-based organizations that will partner with us on these initiatives.

Additionally, the Director of Food-Based Healthcare will be responsible for conducting nutrition counseling for eligible Medicaid patients. The Director will have set "office hours" to provide telehealth nutrition counseling (approved by the 1115 waiver) for individuals throughout our entire 10-county service area.

The Director of Food-Based Healthcare will be able to work independently and with a cross-departmental team. This role will build a team as our food-based healthcare initiatives grow over the next several years.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Dietetics or Clinical Nutrition and Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential
  • At least 2-3 years experience in clinical nutrition practice, preferably in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition science and food-based healthcare practices.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, menu planning, and healthcare facility standards.
  • Strong leadership, management and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent written and oral communication and project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using and presenting data to make decisions
  • Ability and willingness to learn and navigate various software programs, processes, and systems
  • Exceptional organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to solve practical problems under time constraints and within established deadlines
  • Valid NYS driver's license and ability to travel within the 10-county service area as needed

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position paid on a salary basis, ranging from $80,000-$97,000/per year (DOE). Foodlink covers 100% of individual health and dental insurance with the ability to acquire family coverage with pretax dollars. In addition to generous paid time off (PTO), we observe 14 paid holidays throughout the year. Opportunity to contribute to a 401k retirement savings plan upon hire. Eligible for generous employer match after 1 year of service.

Certain positions, depending on their responsibilities and at the approval of Human Resources, are eligible for a personal cell phone usage stipend. This position is eligible for a Class I personal cell phone usage stipend, paid biweekly at a rate of $24. The value of the stipend is based on Foodlink budget and is subject to change at any time. This is not a reimbursement program.
