Schedule

Hybrid schedule as approximately three to five days on-site a week to meet the needs of donors and partners, as well as MHA and DCC team members. Adjustments to the number of in-office days can be made based on project demands, team consensus, or otherwise agreed upon with supervisor. Office Hours are M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM.

Position Purpose

To develop, foster, and provide leadership to the Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center (FCC), and to serve as a leader in the Medical & Healthcare Advancement's strategic engagement team and the DCC development team. To plan, organize, and direct the execution of programs and projects to achieve the FDCC's mission and short- and long-range objectives, specifically, to increase dollars raised from local, regional, and national constituency and awareness of Dartmouth Cancer Center and its initiatives. Plans and directs the annual Prouty to effectively manage the growth of this important Dartmouth and community event. Directs and oversees the broad scope of all FDCC community fundraising activities and events and personally assures that the highest level of quality is reflected.

Experience
Minimum of eight years of leadership experience related to fundraising, business development, and/or nonprofit board leadership.

Organizational experience related to major events and community programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred.

Description

Leadership for the Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center
Determines, guides, and directs the activities of the Friends of Dartmouth Cancer Center toward the goal of developing critical community engagement and financial support for the Cancer Center.
Participates in goal setting and strategic planning and initiates projects/programs in response to identified needs.
Assists and guides the volunteer Friends Board of Directors in the development of fundraising initiatives and the identification of potential donors. Recruits and onboards new Board members.
Leads the Board in the preparation of an annual operating plan for the management and growth of the Friends.
Plans and organizes meetings in response to the needs/plans of the FDCC, ensures follow up on all commitments made, and facilitates their accomplishment.
Analyzes complex issues related to major event management and strategic planning to meet Friends goals.
Develops and monitors the budgets that support the Friends and Friends events.
Promotes active involvement and growth of the FDCC in the broader regional community. Helps develop program goals and objectives for local groups and provides support for activities including local fund-raising. Establishes communication between the Board and local counterparts.
Represents DCC within local community.
Speaks at community and public events on behalf of FDCC.

Description

The Prouty
Plans and directs the annual Prouty, including strategic planning and management of all event systems, logistics, and volunteers. Oversees all participant recruitment, retention and fundraising.
Oversees all operational elements, fiscal management, and personnel resources related to the Prouty.
Develops and evaluates the appropriateness of new components of the Prouty to advance the event, including recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship events.
Evaluates site management and site logistics components to create responsive, flexible systems that make best use of event resources.
Develops and implements communications around the Prouty that inform and foster confidence in all Prouty stakeholders: participants, donors, volunteers, sponsors, and communities.
Develops appropriate media approaches to marketing the Prouty, and develops and disseminates effective collateral materials that reflect the quality of the event. Collaborates with internal partners to ensure compatibility and collaboration of marketing and public relations messaging.
Manages and fosters the planning and implementation functions of the Prouty Executive Committee, as well as all Prouty volunteer committees.

Description

Coordinated Development/ FDCC Community Fundraising & Development
Directs and coordinates community fundraising efforts for the FDCC in partnership with the Strategic Engagement and Cancer Center Development team.
Working with Cancer Center development colleagues, solicits corporate sponsors for the Prouty and the Friends of DCC, and nurtures corporate relationships toward substantive growth.
Identifies and cultivates donors for DCC/FDCC leadership, major, and planned gift programs.
Ensures ongoing coordinated stewardship of FDCC constituents, donors, and fundraising prospects through events, communications and personal relationship building.
Provides regular reports summarizing fundraising activities as well as metrics of success for outreach strategy, specifically volunteer management and direct marketing responses.
Evaluates and implements new fundraising activities or efforts that will provide the best return in contributions, prioritizing according to established decision protocol.

Description

Coordination/Communication/Information
Serves as a liaison for the FDCC with GSM/D-H departments, development offices, physicians, educators, patients, community groups and organizations, donors, and the public for the purposes of promoting Friends activities and the mission of DCC.
Originates and distributes FDCC communications that reflect the quality and goals of the FDCC and the DCC, inclusive of emails, video, digital marketing, collateral, signage, and more.
Makes presentations to community groups and organizations to build recognition of and support for the DCC.
Attends training programs and conferences to keep current on nonprofit fundraising ideas, tools, and trends.
