The Director, Global Marketing leads a team of subject matter experts responsible for developing and executing channel-specific global strategies and plans. This leader will not only optimize execution to engage customers and drive business results but is also tasked with proactively evolving and advancing marketing channels effectively.

What you'll do

  • Leads global paid media strategy, planning, execution and measurement across all media channels to drive the business including, but not limited to flight revenue, AAdvantage acquisition and engagement, and AAdvantage credit card engagement.
  • Advances ad and marketing technology to better track, measure and optimize media and business results.
  • Leads social media, both organic and paid, to communicate corporate messaging, to drive customer engagement, and to connect with American team members.
  • Leads influencer programs to authentically promote American's network, AAdvantage program and customer experience through innovative ROI approaches
  • Own and direct the email marketing program, leading the team, guiding strategy development, and overseeing execution via the ESP platform to drive customer engagement, flight revenue, and AAdvantage redemption.
  • Manages email segmentation, personalization, and automation.
  • Analyzes email performance metrics, and optimizes email campaigns.
  • Leads the development of omnichannel performance marketing campaigns across paid, social, influencer and owned channels to drive the business.
  • Manages agencies supporting paid media, social, influencers, analytics, and email.
  • Collaborates with Marketing Strategy and Global Engagement teams to develop channel strategies and initiatives that deliver business objectives.


All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience; Advanced degree preferred
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles, as well as a demonstrated track record of progression
  • 7 years of experience in marketing, with at least 5 years in paid media, social media, influencer marketing and email management.
  • 7 years of experience managing and directing external marketing agencies, including developing scopes of work, budgets, performance metrics, and leading agency selection processes.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • Passion for innovation, speed to market, and team-based solution development, with a proven track record of customer focused initiatives and revenue generation
  • Airline or travel industry experience preferred
  • Extensive copy-writing, brand development, and marketing experience preferred
  • Ability to identify and implement creative and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions
  • Ability to build consensus and influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Impeccable project planning and organizational skills, with ability to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple large projects within tight deadlines and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively and clearly communicate a strategic and tactical vision to all levels within the organization, as well as with external agencies and business partners
  • Excellent presentation skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably
  • Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the leadership team to identify, plan, and execute strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly collaborative, form consensus, build relationships, and work productively with a broad range of experienced professionals throughout the company
  • Demonstrated ability to assess opportunities, structure solutions, and effectively execute project plans to meet goals
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple large scale projects on an ongoing basis and adjust priorities, as necessary, to meet shifting deadlines in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing, and complex environment
