Director, Grants and Partnerships
Position Summary:
Reporting to the VP, Fund Development, this position will be responsible for securing and managing institutional, corporate, and foundation grants and partnerships. The responsibilities include prospect research, proposal writing, donor relations, corporate meeting the revenue goals of the agency.
Accountabilities:
Grants
Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify potential corporations and institutional funders whose giving criteria and
philanthropic interests align with the organization's strategic direction.
Determine proposal concept and project design by identifying and clarifying organizational needs in collaboration with the VP of Fund development and CEO
Manage ongoing grant opportunities in conjunction with the Director of Service Delivery and the Service Delivery team.
Writes grants and proposal information by conducting needs assessments, collaborating with members of the Service Delivery team and the Impact Reporting Specialist to allocate funding to areas/programs in need.
Build and maintain a pipeline of grant prospects and manage fundraising data in the Raiser's Edge database.
Major Gifts
Write customized letters of inquiry, cover letters, proposals, and major gift asks to foundations and high net-worth donors with an emphasis on multi-year, restricted grants.
Work in collaboration with the President & CEO and Fund Development team to identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts from high-net worth donors.
Participate in donor-facing meetings with the President & CEO with tailored evidence and research prepared to act as a subject matter expert.
In collaboration with senior leadership, develop strategy focused on sustainable multi-year fundraising initiatives
Communicate, effectively, BBBST's social impact and outcomes to strengthen sustainable funding.
In collaboration with the Vice President, Operations ensure that the donor management system, Raisers Edge, is being used
effectively to track all prospect and donor activity.
Liaises with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada marketing/communications team as required.
Leadership and management of staff including mentorship and annual performance appraisal
Stewardship
Build relationships with a variety of stakeholders within corporations through a variety of outreach methods
Steward partnerships that include but are not limited to involvement of stakeholders in different aspects of the organization, connection and recognition of partners and supporters through a variety of creative methods and opportunities.
Reporting
Support in the timely, accurate and well produced submission of reports to funders and various stakeholders including Management Reports, Annual Report and Funder reports
Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications & Skills:
5-7 years of experience in grant writing with a strong track record of significant success in government, corporate and foundation grants
Direct experience in the identification and cultivation of new relationships and stewarding existing donors.
A strategic thinker coupled with front-line fundraising experience generating multiple streams of revenue and strong management and communications experience.
University or college equivalent in fundraising education or a minimum of five-year fundraising experience
Knowledge and practical usage of Raiser's Edge is a strong asset
Superior written and oral communication skills
Ability to work outside customary business hours during periods leading up to and during major events - includes some weekends and evenings
Strong knowledge and practical usage of Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Successful vulnerable sector police clearance
