Description:

The Director of Human Resources will lead and manage the HR function, aligning the people strategies with business goals to drive organizational success. This role requires a seasoned HR professional with experience in various facets of human resources, including talent management, employee relations, compliance, total rewards (compensation and benefits) and organizational development. As a key member of our leadership team, the Director of HR will play a strategic and hands-on role in fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs):
  • HR Business Partner:
    • Implement HR strategies and initiatives that align with the overall business objectives.
    • Partner with leadership to create a culture that supports growth, innovation, and employee engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on all HR-related matters
    • Develop and execute strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing top talent. Including overseeing the full employee lifecycle.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by developing programs that enhance employee satisfaction and engagement.
    • Act as a resource for conflict resolution and employee concerns, ensuring timely and fair resolutions.
    • Design and implement initiatives to improve organizational culture and employee retention.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with Canadian and US provincial/state/local and federal labor laws and regulations and Occupational Health and Safety laws and regulations.
    • Develop and update HR policies and procedures to reflect current legal requirements and industry best practices.
    • Oversee audits, investigations, and risk management efforts related to HR operations.
  • Compensation and Benefits:
    • Manage the design, implementation, and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs in both Canada and the US.
    • Conduct regular benchmarking to ensure total rewards align with industry standards and support employee satisfaction.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Develop metrics and reports that quantify effectiveness, areas of improvement, trends, and provide visibility to executive teams.
    • Analyze data to continuously measure the impact and effectiveness of key processes and adjusts as needed
    • Optimizing the HR functions performance, processes, tools, and technologies to continually create efficiencies including AI/machine learning.
    • Operate using company processes and data driven reports to manage team to specified KPIs to drive business results
    • Monitor and control cost and find and recommend opportunities for improvement
    • Solve problems or issues as they arise, perform root cause analysis, and conclude and implement solutions decisively in alignment with company standards
    • Ensure all business is undertaken in accordance with standard Company policies, procedures, and systems
    • Ensure appropriate business controls are in place to satisfy audit requirements and to protect customers and company assets
    • Support internal clients' operations by providing top quality service
  • Leadership
    • Hire, lead, engage, coach, motivate, develop, performance and manage the HR team
    • Foster a culture of accountability, professional development and high performance
    • Hold team accountable to KPIs, financial targets and operational objectives
    • Accountable for overall retention & engagement
    • Support employee career mobility
    • Conduct monthly 1 on 1s with the team in accordance with corporate process
    • Encourage and foster adoption of new tools, technology and any type of change in work processes to drive efficiency/execution of the team
    • Lead by example in the areas of production, business continuity, living the values of the Company
    • Ensure performance is aligned to the company standards
  • Support
    • Actively participate and collaborate in projects and initiatives to meet corporate goals and strategy
    • Proactively discuss potential process improvements, ideas and solutions
    • Undertake additional training, certification and miscellaneous duties as required
    • Act as a Company ambassador and promote the Company's reputation
  • Other
    • All other duties as assigned


    Experience & Education:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
    • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, Canada employment laws, and Canada regulatory compliance.
  • Proven expertise in talent management, organizational development, compensation& benefits, and employee relations.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to inform HR strategies.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and other HR technology tools.
