The Opportunity
As Director, Human Resources, you will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner, influencing senior leadership while executing best-in-class HR practices. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies across key HR functions, including recruitment, talent assessment, performance management, employee engagement, and culture-building initiatives. This role will be highly involved in day-to-day operations while also strategically leading the HR function. Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Partner with the VP, Talent Acquisition, on recruitment ensuring we attract, select, and retain top-tier talent.
- Develop workforce planning and succession strategies to ensure the organization's long-term talent pipeline aligns with business goals.
- Partner with business leaders to assess talent needs, optimizing hiring processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Performance Management & Talent Development
- Provide coaching and development support for managers and senior leaders, ensuring best practices in performance evaluations, career development, and leadership effectiveness.
- Drive talent assessment initiatives, enabling data-driven decisions for employee development, promotions, and succession planning.
- Implement performance management programs that drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Champion initiatives that foster an inclusive, high-performance workplace culture, enhancing employee experience and engagement.
- Develop and implement recognition programs that celebrate achievements and reinforce company values.
Employee Relations
- Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations.
- Address and resolve employee conflicts, ensuring a positive work environment.
HR Strategy & Compliance
- Serve as a strategic HR advisor, ensuring policies, programs, and initiatives align with business objectives.
- Oversee compensation, benefits, and payroll administration in collaboration with internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. employment laws and regulations, proactively identifying emerging trends and risks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related discipline (HR certification is a plus).
- 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a fast-paced, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environment.
- Deep expertise in talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and workforce planning.
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. employment laws and compliance best practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with a track record of successful partnerships with senior leadership.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day operations.
- A proactive, results-oriented mindset with the ability to drive initiatives from conception to execution.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and inspire teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems; experience with data-driven HR decision-making is an asset.
