Position Summary
As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing both the Society's human resources and internal/external communications operations, ensuring the delivery of strategic HR and Communications services and programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director leads a team of HR professionals and collaborates with various stakeholders to achieve the Society's strategic goals through effective planning, execution, and management of HR initiatives.
The Director is responsible for delivering HR advisory services and programs, including labour relations, performance management, recruitment, learning and development, pay and benefits, job evaluation, pay equity, and occupational health and safety. They maintain positive relationships with union partners, guide conflict resolution, and act as the chief spokesperson in collective bargaining processes. The Director develops and implements strategies to foster a healthy and equitable workplace, leads the creation of multi-year operational plans, and manages resources, risks, and budgets to deliver quality outcomes. Additionally, they oversee the Internal/External Communications department, build effective partnerships, and apply an equity lens to systems, policies, and practices.

Qualifications
- University Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- CHRL Designation
- 10+ years of experience in a field directly related to the job with increasing accountability and complexity.
- 5+ years of experience in formal people management (e.g. set goals, coaching, performance management), including leading through others, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Previous budget and/or financial accountability.
- Strong labour relations experience.
- An equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training may be considered as appropriate.
