ABOUT CONTRACT SERVICES:
In the mid-1960s, the major film studios, in negotiations with Hollywood's unions, founded the non-profit Contract Services Administration Trust Fund (CSATF) and later added Contract Services Administration Trust Training Fund (CSATTF), now collectively referred to as Contract Services (CS). CS carries out an extensive list of contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations that must be implemented on behalf of the studios, especially with respect to certain requirements of the collective bargaining agreements that apply to a freelance union workforce of more than 50,000 production workers in the greater Los Angeles area. These services include administering seniority rosters, operating safety training and apprenticeship programs, administering a drug and alcohol testing program that applies to commercial drivers working in the motion picture industry, and implementing many other industry-wide services, studies and/or education on behalf of the motion picture production industry.

JOB SUMMARY:
The executive in charge of industry outreach is a newly created role to support the continued development and enhancement of the organization, especially regarding the experience of its external users and stakeholders. This position is responsible for leading, managing, directing the external communications that educate and inform the various constituents and participants of this not-for-profit entity. The qualified executive for this role will uniquely act as both an external communications leader and messaging strategy partner to the CEO; providing thoughtful strategic guidance and practical tactical applications for effectively deploying external communications to the various groups and diverse constituents that participate in the Contract Services value offerings.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Industry Outreach will be part of the senior management team and responsible for developing, managing and deploying all areas related to external outreach and communications and specifically to their valued constituents.

The Director of Industry Outreach will be part of the senior management team and responsible for developing, managing and deploying all areas related to external outreach and communications and specifically to their valued constituents.
The responsibilities of the Director of Industry Outreach include:
- Develop a keen understanding of the Contract Services value offerings, which includes the constituents' requirements and positions, the multi-faceted aspects of their delivery and unique processes and services, resulting in a thorough assessment of the dynamics and environment.
- Engage with the CEO to design, prioritize and manage industry "messaging" and outreach communications solutions and other external communications collateral to better educate participants and enhance organizational image and practices.
- Create and design core messaging for the organization that resonates with their audience, which may include engaging market research and focus groups.
- Select, manage and deploy the various techniques, platforms, user guides and venues to effectively optimize these messaging solutions, such as video, digital, media and other forms of communications collateral.
- Coordinate and manage the other elements of marketing communications that support these external objectives, including branding, partnerships, event participation, and limited public relations.
- Advise the senior management team and the organization on the various external communication efforts, vision, strategies and issues.
- Lead and develop a communications team, setting goals, supporting and enhancing team performance.
- Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of the external communication solutions and efforts.
- Manage press inquiries and crisis communication.
- This executive will be responsible for creating a comprehensive and effective external communication plan and outcome that aligns with their overall messaging objectives, mitigates risks, and successfully engages their target audiences.
IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- The desired executive candidate background will have a blend of external communications and marketing acumen, skills and experiences that can develop, deploy and deliver on an organization's messaging objectives.
- They will be able to demonstrate their prowess and working knowledge to lead an external communications function, end-to-end. This includes developing effective messaging strategies and solutions, exceptional writing skills for crafting messages and collateral, and proficiency with various collateral tools, techniques, platforms and programs.
- Their career results will show progressive marketing successes with emphasis on external communications that supports compelling narratives, products or services that are designed to educate and resonate with their desired targeted audience and align with organizational objectives.
- They will possess and demonstrate clearly the leadership skills and successes in their previous roles which likely will include experience in consulting firms, public agencies, and other similar situations that have education messaging.
- They will have both creative, technical and managerial knowledge that spans external marketing venues and projects; creating informative materials such as newsletters, announcements, reports, and social media posts that explain the organization's mission, programs, and impact; showing proficiency in using data and analytics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies; and the demonstrating the skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- They will have related external communication experiences that similarly reflect the spectrum of services and programs offered by Contract Services that actively serve diverse groups. Similar industry environments that would reflect this complex product and services processing model where educating constituents is a key aspect of their messaging and strategic objectives. These other sectors may include:
- Healthcare products and services (educating the medical profession, or patients or consumers of healthcare devices)
- Education and University environments (diversity of interests and subjects)
- Public utilities (education of services and new efforts to the consumer)
- Insurance services environments (messaging complex product and services offerings)
- The qualified candidate will have a demonstrable record of external communication knowledge and marketing experience successfully working in well-regarded complex multi-functional services and products organizations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Undergraduate degree is required. Certifications and degrees in related subject areas desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS:
- This position is hybrid and will work partially on-site in our Burbank office, as well as from home.
