Role Overview:

This role leads the firm's technology strategy and operations, ensuring a secure, reliable, and scalable IT environment across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems compliance (including SEC regulatory requirements), hardware lifecycle management, and help desk support. The Director will partner with business and compliance leaders to align IT capabilities with firm-wide goals while maintaining a strong security and regulatory posture.

Responsibilities:

IT Strategy, Systems & Infrastructure:
  • Develop and maintain the company's enterprise IT roadmap, ensuring that systems support current operations and future growth.
  • Oversee implementation, integration, and maintenance of core systems, including financial, CRM, project management, and HR platforms.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate technology contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure high availability of business-critical systems and data with effective disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Cybersecurity & Compliance:
  • Lead cybersecurity strategy and execution, including threat prevention, detection, incident response, and recovery protocols.
  • Ensure the firm meets cybersecurity and information security standards aligned with SEC regulations and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Finance teams to maintain IT-related regulatory documentation, audit trails, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk reviews.

Governance, Policy & Data Management:
  • Develop, document, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards, including acceptable use, access control, and data retention.
  • Maintain data integrity and privacy across the organization, ensuring secure access to internal and investor-facing systems.
  • Oversee user access and identity management protocols in alignment with compliance and risk frameworks.

Hardware, Networks & Support Operations:
  • Manage procurement, deployment, and maintenance of all hardware including laptops, servers, mobile devices, and network equipment.
  • Ensure efficient network infrastructure across corporate offices and remote environments.
  • Lead the internal Help Desk team to deliver responsive, high-quality support and training for all employees.
  • Monitor service requests, help desk KPIs, and end-user satisfaction to continuously improve IT services.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals including system administrators, security analysts, and support staff.
  • Partner with executive leadership and department heads to evaluate and prioritize technology needs.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, service, and accountability within the IT team.

Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Microsoft, AWS, CompTIA Security+) are a plus.

Experience:
  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing IT functions within a regulated environment (e.g., SEC, FINRA, SOX) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with cybersecurity frameworks, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise system management.
  • Prior experience supporting a multi-entity or multi-location organization is a plus.
  • Experience leading the IT function within an SEC-registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, with familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS), cybersecurity, and enterprise applications.
  • Deep understanding of IT compliance requirements for SEC-regulated firms and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across business units and with external partners.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at desk.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard and tolerate prolonged periods performing work using a computer, telephone, and/or keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
