Position Summary
The Information Technology Services Department at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science invites applications for a full-time Director of Infrastructure Services. The Director will be responsible for assisting with the definition and implementation of the technical vision of the university. Working closely with the CIO and in coordination with technology governance processes, this position will ensure that day-to-day operations and new technology initiatives are aligned with established standards, policies, and procedures. The Director will ensure that the networking, server, and telephony platforms are optimized to provide the highest level of service possible. The person in this position will be the highest technical authority for the groups reporting to them, and will resolve all issues escalated to them utilizing appropriate resources at their disposal. They will work in partnership with the CIO and other IT Department Directors to provide robust technology solutions to the university community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day operations of infrastructure team to ensure timely and accurate resolution of issues.
- Perform hands-on technical tasks as necessary to augment the staff in critical areas.
- Work with IT Department staff members as necessary to identify quality issues, and assist with the implementation of improvements related to technical operations.
- Serve as a project manager for large infrastructure-related projects within the IT Department.
- Manage staff appropriately to distribute workload evenly and assign high-priority tasks.
- Work with vendors as necessary to troubleshoot and resolve issues with infrastructure systems.
- Implement and maintain hardware/software tools as necessary to perform daily technical operations for the university.
- Assist with development of any required university policies, procedures, and best practices related to the services provided by the Information Technology Department.
- Strictly enforce change control processes to guarantee minimal production downtime.
- Coordinate the regular distribution of technology-related information to the university community.
- Perform routine audits to ensure staff compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Participate in meetings or serve as a task force/committee member for initiatives related to the technical infrastructure of the university.
- Provide weekly status reports to IT Department management on all projects and daily operational issues.
- Work with the CIO to develop annual budget requests necessary to maintain high levels of efficiency in technical operations.
- Serve as a teacher/mentor for departmental staff and management within areas of expertise.

Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology related field.
- Five or more years of experience in a position performing similar duties.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proven hands-on experience in the areas of server/domain management, and networking/telecommunications management.
- Experience with server virtualization (vSphere preferred), and enterprise SAN (EqualLogic preferred) technologies.
- Experience maintaining a robust switching network (Cisco preferred), and strong network protection (Juniper preferred).
- Knowledge of appropriate backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ability to work with product vendors in supporting hardware and software.
- Ability to work with product vendors in configuring and implementing new solutions.
- Experience with searching out and identifying solutions to technical issues of any nature.
- Ability to train staff and faculty members on technical applications.
- Experience gathering and reporting relevant performance metrics to user community.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in an Information Technology related field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNP, MCSE, ITIL, or CSSBB.
- Experience working in a university setting.
- Prior experience with establishing and maintaining a large project budget.
