Position Overview:
The Director of the EdTech Lab (EdTech) will implement innovation and strategy to revolutionize learner experiences at Ivey. You will lead the development of cutting-edge products that position Ivey as a global leader of online and in person business education. As the Director, you will discover and deliver value-added EdTech solutions aligned with Ivey's strategic initiatives. Effective communication and setting high educational standards are crucial in this role, requiring exceptional project management and stakeholder consultation. Collaboration with Ivey departments, Faculty, and external partners is essential for project success.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Ivey Online, you will lead the EdTech team in creating exceptional online and in-person classroom experiences using advanced educational solutions. You will establish clear plans, processes, and procedures for the department, ensuring timely project completion and engaging with stakeholders internally and externally for Ivey degree and non-degree programs. Leading a team, including Learning Experience Designers and Specialists, you will provide training, mentorship, and resolve obstacles, fostering a collaborative environment for work within the EdTech team and integrated throughout Ivey Business School and the Ivey Foundation. Your entrepreneurial mindset, problem-solving abilities, and trusted leadership will encourage discussions on EdTech and innovation opportunities across the School. Seizing organizational opportunities, you will develop pedagogical innovations to equip learners and Faculty for the future of business.

Responsibilities:
- Develop processes and procedures for the selection and deployment of innovative learning design projects and tools. This work will be completed in consultation with IT, Ivey Publishing, Ivey Academy, Program Services, Faculty Services, Teaching Scholars Committee, and other Stakeholders identified during project scoping. Review and validate strategic priority of these projects with the Executive Director, Ivey Online.
- Manage the end-to-end execution of Ivey Online courses, ensuring seamless delivery, timely course launches, and smooth learner experiences. Collaborate with faculty, instructional designers, and support teams to maintain high-quality standards, troubleshoot issues, and optimize operational workflows.
- Oversee enrollment processes, monitor course performance, and address student inquiries to ensure an engaging and effective learning environment. Implement operational best practices, leverage data insights to improve learner success, and coordinate with IT and EdTech teams to maintain platform functionality.
- Oversee and plan overall project and workload schedules for EdTech staff members, while ensuring all projects are seen through to implementation, ensuring balance between Ivey Online and Ivey degree program project requests.
- Collaborating with the Teaching Scholars Committee, host and organize training sessions highlighting functions and features of acquired advanced educational solutions and innovations.
- Establish, monitor and report on feedback mechanisms to evaluate the success of EdTech projects, perform analysis of data generated from the feedback mechanism and respond to the evolving needs of learners and Faculty members based on data-driven insights.
- Prepare reports and presentations producing necessary analysis and reports for required Stakeholders, Senior Leadership, program reviews, accreditations, and other needs as requested by other Ivey and University departments.
- Manage revenue targets for the EdTech team, while supporting the Executive Director, Ivey Online during the annual budget and quarterly forecasting process that incorporates revenue and expenses, including strategic choices to technology investments.
- Collaborate with Faculty Assistants team to ensure degree program courses are supported and align with their role responsibilities and requirements.
- Manage all communications related to EdTech and Ivey Online initiatives.
- Through inclusive practices, lead a team that remains on top of learning best practices and advanced educational technological solutions, while continuing to seek out creative solutions within the technology offerings we have currently.
- Lead the EdTech team's effective performance through management of specific projects and oversight of team members' workflows, timelines, and foreseeing potential obstacles.
- Complete annual performance reviews of all EdTech staff members and timely mentorship and coaching throughout the year.
- Recruit and hire staff members for the EdTech team as project load and skill requirements determine.
- Motivate the team and emphasize their role's impact on learners and staff, while setting a positive tone, coaching through challenges, and providing regular feedback and support.
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Ivey Online, Senior Leadership, Executive Directors, and Directors across the organization to identify, plan, assess, and implement transformative and incremental innovations that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Ivey's teaching and learning best practices for both degree and non-degree programs.
- In coordination with the Executive Director, establish innovative, AI forward, learning design practices that will form the foundation of teaching and learning at Ivey, ensuring EdTech remains the knowledge hub for innovative teaching and learning.
- Through the lens of Ivey Online, engage in active collaboration with Ivey Academy, and Ivey Publishing develop an integrated strategy aimed at enticing mid to executive level learners to pursue further educational opportunities at Ivey.
- For Ivey Online, oversee the development and execution of learning best practices supporting strong, cohesive programming with continued enhancements through innovative initiatives.
- Participate in committees focusing on teaching best practices, providing insights and perspectives based on established standards and processes.
- Collaborating with Marketing and Communications teams to ensure new programs or products fit with Ivey branding and style guidelines and communicated in a timely manner to required parties.
- Strong collaboration with our Classroom Technology Services (CTS) team to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources to support workload needs, particularly at peak times.
- Strong collaboration with IT and other required Stakeholders to scope, review, and launch learning technologies, while having a detailed understanding of Ivey's data governance structures.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and pilot innovative initiatives that can be successfully implemented throughout the school.
- Review learning technologies used at Ivey and Ivey Online to ensure it is safe, respectful, and upholds Ivey's data governance policies.
- Participate and lead collaborative research and working groups, both internal and external to Ivey, to explore innovative teaching and learning practices and effective methods for their implementation.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Ivey Online to evaluate proposed projects for the EdTech Lab, distinguishing between incremental and transformative innovations.
- Stay attuned to the ever-evolving landscape of teaching and learning, aiming to develop and maintain innovative blended programs that align with the research objectives of the School and Ivey Online.
- Establish a comprehensive Resource Hub for both internal and external user groups, employing data analytics to ensure optimal utilization of learning technologies.
- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of learner surveys, focus groups, user groups, and advisory councils, fostering continuous improvement of learner needs across Ivey by identifying innovative solutions and opportunities.
- Work directly with Faculty members and key stakeholders to develop high engagement, blended learning experiences using learning management solutions and learning design best practices for degree and Ivey Online programs.
- Assist Ivey Online Stakeholders Faculty and Faculty Assistants with the deployment of new education programs.
- Plan and monitor quality assurance testing of all blended learning assets and experiences. This will include monitoring how often the course content is renewed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Learning Design, Education, or Organizational Development.
- Foundational-level knowledge of business and management theories and concepts. This business acumen may have been attained through employment or educational experiences.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in an online/blended learning environment, leadership and/or operations is preferred.
- Extensive relationship building experience - to allow for strong ties with Faculty, staff, learners, and external Stakeholders.
- Experience developing and effectively managing an operations budget.
- Comfortable with changing demands and expectations as innovations and projects arise.
Skills & Abilities
- Experience leading and managing projects and teams in an environment with urgent day-to-day service support requests and on-going complex projects with significant scope and firm deadlines.
- Highly developed client service and interpersonal skills, working with a range of personalities, motives, and interests.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with a high level of accuracy.

- Excellent analytical skills with experience conducting data analysis to support business decisions.
- Strong understanding of Learning Management Solutions (LMS) systems is required and experience working with various LMS is considered as asset.
