- Position Summary
- The Director Laboratory Services provides leadership for the operation, quality and quantity of the hospital laboratories on a 24-hour basis. Is accountable for cost control, budget, quality assessment/control program. Directs the placement of personnel by qualifications and expertise in the best-suited position. Directs orientation of new employees, and work assignments. Coordinates staff development with inter- and intradepartmental education programs, as well as outside sources. Responsible for hiring, termination, promotion, and discipline of employees. Directs evaluation of supervised personnel. Maintains open communication with pathologists. Informs pathologists of problems with diagnostic procedures and any other information the needed to provide Laboratory oversight. Available to nursing service, medical staff and other hospital staff, and practioner sites for consultation in all matters pertaining to the Laboratory and its services. Is responsible for recognizing and implementing additional services to the laboratory through collaboration with Pathologists and Vice President, Ancillary Services as trends in technology, instrumentation and physician ordering patterns suggest the need. Knowledgeable of laboratory test procedures with defined automated procedures, calculations and/or indicators that are age dependent. Directs testing procedures on adult, child, adolescent, neonate and geriatric patients.

- 3-5 Years Clinical Laboratory - Preferred
- License & Certification
- Registered Medical Technologist MLS(ASCP) or equivalent, equivalent of Master's Degree in Management. Requires application of advances, principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or through general business management knowledge.

- Monthly performance/variance and significant events reports are timely and meet with VP approval. QOR reports are completed on time with action items addressed. Requests for reports/information from Administration are completed as required.
- Standards from accrediting agencies are reviewed ongoing and processes and policies are designed to meet or exceed standards.
- Demonstrates strong financials knowledge and leadership qualities.
- Integrates pathology services into overall hospital services incorporating the vision, mission and goals into care delivery. Acts as a resource for corporation for current guidelines by regulatory agencies, making recommendations for space and other resources. Assesses and directs improvement of the quality of care and services provided.
