What is the opportunity?

The RBC Personal Savings & Investments (PSI) Marketing team is seeking a seasoned strategic innovator, bold storyteller and visionary Director to lead its integrated Marketing strategy and go-to-market plans for PSI Branch investments (including Term Investments and Savings, Mutual Funds Distribution, etc). The Director will have significant accountability for defining and delivering a differentiated consumer-facing value proposition, messaging platform and creative approach, fueling awareness, consideration, and acquisition for the PSI business.

The successful candidate is one who thrives in a fast paced, rapidly evolving business, and on bringing big bold impactful ideas to life with breakthrough creative, collaboration, consumer insight, testing and creativity. They will champion brand storytelling, be accountable for the breakthrough marketing and integrated campaign strategy (including mass and targeted channels from top- to bottom-funnel) which will spark action, build trust and elevate our presence across all channels. The Director will be laser-focused on the Canadian investments landscape, competitive dynamics and evolving macro and micro market influences, insights and trends that drive consumer behaviour and preference.

What will you do?
  • Own the translation of brand strategy into impactful and actionable product marketing strategies / campaigns across owned, paid and earned marketing channels
  • Lead and drive strong, quality acquisition, leveraging data and insights, testing and spanning across paid media, organic and owned channels
  • Be a subject matter expert on macro, category and consumer trends, which you will leverage to inform creative evolution, the product marketing strategy and insight driven approaches, sparking the development of innovative opportunities and testing
  • Navigate complexity through working collaboratively with key stakeholders across management levels including internal and external partners from ideation, strategy development and execution to deliver superior outcomes and exceed business OKRs
  • Create high impact product marketing strategies to fuel consideration and client acquisition, taking a full funnel 'client first' approach, anchored in insights to deliver hyper relevant creative
  • Achieve optimization across the entire funnel, delivering on business goals and maximizing ROI
  • Develop and ensure disciplined KPI establishment, measurement and analyses to enable strategic conversations, and fuel future marketing opportunities
  • Lead, coach and inspire a high performing team fostering a culture with a growth mindset, passion for creativity / bold thinking, experimentation, solution orientation and intrinsic curiosity


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 12+ years of integrated Marketing experience (e.g. mass, targeted, digital, performance, in branch, etc.), ideally within financial services
  • Demonstrated experience in driving strong brand health in a highly competitive and fast-paced space
  • Experience leading successful acquisition campaigns to support business targets. Demonstrated track record of client focus and strategic thinking ("why" in addition to "what")
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative, supportive way in cross-functional teams and across the organization while being a change-agent who can adapt and thrive with a rapidly evolving category, as well as an ambiguous, agile and changing environment
  • Proven ability to influence, work across and inspire greatness in a highly complex organization, including at all levels of management
  • Strong leadership, exceptional storytelling, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for innovation and challenging status quo with an emphasis on stakeholder management and obtaining buy-in from various teams and seniority levels through influence, partnering and collaboration.
