Job Summary:
This position provides leadership and operational oversight to the Medical Staff Services Office for the UT Health East Texas North Campus and the clinical faculty of the UT Tyler School of Medicine. The director works collaboratively with the President, University Practice Plan, Dean School of Medicine, CEO of UT Health North Campus, and medical staff leaders to plan organize, direct and coordinate the credentialing and privileging of the medical staff including managed care delegated credentialing functions, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:
Provides leadership and operational oversight to the UT Health East Texas and UT Tyler School of Medicine Academic Affairs Administrative Team.
Coordinates all Medical Staff and Medical Executive Committee (MEC) meetings, manages electronic and paper data of and Medical Staff Bylaws, Minutes, Operations Manual and Policies and Procedures.
Prepares budgets and account reconciliations on assigned accounts.
Responsible for the medical administration and medical-legal aspects of the medical staff organization and serves as an essential link between senior management, nursing and medical staff to promote and enhance communication and positive working relationships.
Serves as UT System Plan liaison for purposes of supporting clinical faculty related to Texas Medical Board (TMB) matters.
Provides risk functions in connection with litigation matters working closely with the UT Tyler Chief Legal Officer and Chief Risk Officer.
Develops, organizes and manages all Medical Staff operational functions.
Works collaboratively with hospital administration and the medical staff leadership.
Directs the credentialing and privileging process for medical staff and advance practice professionals.
Maintains medical staff governance documents and updates them as revisions are approved.
Communicates recommendations for MEC as necessary.
Maintains all confidentiality of all peer review and other activities of the medical staff.
Oversight of Locums Tenens process.
Oversight of Medical Staff regulatory requirements for CMS Joint Commission.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Education / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience in hospital Medical Staff Office.
- Proficiency in use of computer software programs, including a credentialing database system and Microsoft Office.
Required Certifications / Licenses:
- Certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Staff Services Management (CPMSM) preferred.
