This role oversees mortgage lending and operations, ensuring product profitability, driving business development, maintaining quality assurance, developing products, enhancing the customer experience, and optimizing end-to-end operational efficiency, including managing policies, procedures, and audits. The position is a Sr. member of the management team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build and maintain a high-performing team; select, develop, coach, reward and recognize team members to ensure high workforce engagement.
  • Actively participates in setting the vision, strategy, direction and culture of the bank.
  • Identifies opportunities for corporate growth and development and cultivates strategic plans for the credit union to reach these goals.
  • Develop an aligned sales and service culture which delivers a consistent member experience in collaboration with the Head of Consumer Banking and team.
  • Lead development and execution of the mortgage sales and service plan and ensure alignment with product pricing and marketing strategies and credit administration risk parameters to ensure the bank achieves its growth, production, asset quality and profitability goals.

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to the mortgage lending, underwriting and operations teams.
  • Establishes policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Plays in a key role in developing and maintaining a profitable mortgage banking portfolio.
  • Work with sales, marketing, risk management, finance, legal, credit administration and IT to bring highly competitive products to the market
  • Responsible for end-to-end process within all aspects of mortgage banking to drive high standards for customer experience, quality, timeliness and efficiency. This includes implementing improvements to processes resulting in operational efficiency, additional sales achievements, risk management or profitability enhancements.
  • Selection and management of outside vendors, investors and third-party providers related to all aspects of, mortgage banking, including contract negotiations, also oversees day to day management of the vendor and investor relationship in those areas.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals from mortgage to other banking lines of business.
  • Lead the coordination, communication, and resolution of audit findings for internal and external audit and regulatory examinations of the mortgage banking.
  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Required:
  • A bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • 10+ years progressive experience in mortgage banking that includes leadership and management of people in sales, underwriting and operations.
  • A detailed knowledge of mortgage banking regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of secondary market requirements and FHLMC, FNMA and FHA mortgage lending products and requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of banking industry and products.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skill.
  • Create opportunities for collaboration within and across teams.
  • An ability to build trusted partnerships with Thrivent advisors.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $136,721.00 - $184,976.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
