SUMMARY
Responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger in support of the financial reporting process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A 4-year college degree from an accredited institution with an accounting concentration, a minimum of five years accounting experience, supervisory experience and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and concepts demonstrated by obtaining (or pursuing) professional CPA designation.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to write routine correspondence in the English language using correct grammar and spelling. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Skill and ability to use and operate an adding machine, computer, fax machine, phone system and copier. Working knowledge of Word and proficient in Excel.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving complex variables in most situations. Candidate must possess and be able to apply logical thinking skills and can think creatively.

SUMMARY
Responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger in support of the financial reporting process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for supervising the financial reporting staff.
- Responsible for ensuring financial statements are issued timely and accurately for SIG.
- Responsible for monthly investment journal entries.
- Develop and maintain investment reconciliations monthly to ensure the general ledger agrees to custodial accounts.
- Maintain the fixed asset system, including monthly entry of new assets and periodic audits of the system to dispose of any assets no longer owned.
- Ensure that property tax listings are properly filed with each state.
- Ensure that escheat filings are filed properly and timely.
- Create and maintain reports within the general ledger system to allow for ease of reporting.
- Ensure that Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled, and balances can be properly supported.
- Assist with coordination and completion of audits by the external audit firm and departments of insurance.
- Assist VP of Finance & Controller with special projects as needed.
- Assist Chief Financial Officer with special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
