SOL Engineering Services, LLC is seeking a Director of Accounting to manage accounting and finance, establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles, plan and strategize with senior management as well as oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. Must be familiar with government contracting and compliance with government cost accounting regulations as well as investigating opportunities to improve profitability, and analyze markets for opportunities, such as expansion, mergers or acquisitions.

Requirements

  • CPA preferred, BS, BA or master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance plus a minimum of 5 years of experience will substitute for CPA requirement
  • Previous experience as Accounting Supervisor or Manager required
  • Responsible for performing general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract & pools, labor, revenue & cost recognition
  • Must have the potential to grow and lead a multi-state accounting group
  • Must follow and apply pertinent laws, codes, and regulations as well as organizational and unit rules, policies, and procedures with good judgment
  • Must have the ability to implement a new DCAA compliant accounting system and analyze, maintain, monitor and review accounts and financial records while ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all financial information to include monthly, quarterly and year end
  • Will regularly work with external auditors and agencies to ensure clean and timely audits and reporting as well as providing financial and non-financial Information to the Principals, managers and employees
  • Will be required to create the financial plan, develop and support budget and forecasting, develop long term strategies, and assist with price proposals and estimates
  • Must maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting, the general ledger and cost structure as well as designing, implementing and maintaining additional internal controls
  • Must have exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Must be familiar with Cost Accounting Standard (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR), and Government Auditing Standards (GAS)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Outlook, Word and Excel and be able to create presentations, reports and documents, as well as the proven ability to learn new accounting software
  • Must be adept at handling shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Will monitor and analyze the department to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Will collaborate with department managers to support overall company goals and objectives
  • Will supervise the accounting group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met, advise staff on handling non-routine reporting transactions, and provide training to new and existing staff, as needed
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise to enhance the professional development of the staff while working with the Human Resources Manager to oversee personnel issues including staff conflict, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Some travel in and out of state as well as future relocation from Jackson, MS may be required
