The Florida State University Career Center
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for leading, developing, and managing comprehensive activities related to student career development, administrative resource optimization, and employer connections. Charged with the analysis of the effectiveness of and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs.
Oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned area including the supervisor of departmental employees. Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in department areas of technology, marketing, assessment, and liaison for HR, budget, and financial operations. Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned areas of responsibility.
Assists the director or other appropriate administrator in long-term planning, strategic alignment, and management oversight of university-wide student affairs office or function. Leads the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists in developing and implementing the overall departmental/unit/functional area strategic plan through the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures.
Fosters relationships with internal and external constituents for the benefit of students' career development, Career Center operation, and increasing engagement and employer (and other external groups) connections. Deliver presentations and aligned professional service to the ongoing integration of career services, benchmarking, and establishing best practices for career services throughout the FSU community and externally representing FSU and the FSU Career Center.
Oversees assessments and analysis data related to activities for functional area. Collects and reports activity data in support of creating, measuring, and quantifying impact of FSU Career Center activities. These activities can include internal-serving utilization and accountability purposes and dissemination across State, regional, national, and international contexts. Maintains current knowledge of employment trends and appropriate career development expertise.
Participates in the development of budget requests, exercising financial commitment and approvals in concert with the Assistant Vice President or other appropriate administrator, and the maintenance of a budget pertinent to assigned programs and areas.
Responsible for ensuring that all programs, activities, and services comply with University, State, and Federal regulations. Serves in the absence of the Assistant Vice-President for the overall management and administrative direction of a unit and/or functional area.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and six years of experience related to administrative services; or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience related to administrative services. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)
Preferred Qualifications
A strong understanding of industry best practices, especially with respect to National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) guidelines.
Experience working in an academic leadership role with a thorough understanding of academic policies and procedures.
A creative vision for the Career Center, oriented toward building and enhancing career and professional development programs.
A demonstrated capacity to establish, cultivate and manage professional relationships with various internal and external stakeholder groups.
An ability to manage and supervise others in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills, organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
An ability to maintain collegial and collaborative relationships within the Career Center, and with other administrative units in the university..
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, career management systems, and social media platforms.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated salary for the Director of Administration and Operations is mid to high $80,000's, commensurate with education and experience.
