Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible for planning, supervising, and conducting internal audits and investigations. This position serves in the absence of the Chief Audit Officer (CAO), as needed, and assists the CAO in fulfilling the mission and developing and implementing long-range goals and objectives for the Office of Audit and Advisory Services (OAAS).
Responsible for supervising assigned audit staff, including investigations audit staff, implementing the work plan, leading and supervising audits, and ensuring compliance with Institute of Internal Auditors Standards. Supervises audit recommendation follow-up conducted by assigned audit staff and conducts audit follow-up as necessary.
As requested, responsible for supervising investigative staff, assisting in investigations and ensuring compliance with OAAS Investigative Directives. As requested, assists the FSUPD in conducting investigations. Provides high-level direction and leadership, develops and implements long-range goals and objectives, achieves strategic initiatives related to applicable auditing functions, and provides advice to the Senior Management, Directors, staff, and employees. Keeps supervisor informed of significant developments and issues involving relative programs.
Assists in the OAAS risk assessment process and prepares information to be included in the OAAS annual report. Responsible for conducting follow-ups, reviewing follow-ups for assigned auditors, and preparing follow-up reports for dissemination; providing research and assistance to University entities upon their request.
Carries out ad hoc assignments, special projects, and other duties as deemed appropriate by the Chief Audit Officer. Examples of such duties include conducting projects or audits requested by the BOG, managing the automated audit system, etc.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. Knowledge of the Principles and Standards for Office of Inspectors General, Quality Standards for Office of Inspectors General and Quality Standards for Investigation and the Standards for Complaint Handling and Investigations for the State University System of Florida. Knowledge of IT standards applicable to audits being conducted.
Knowledge of and ability to apply Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation standards for the accreditation of Inspectors General.
Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.
Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and six years of related professional experience.
(Note: higher education may substitute at an equivalent rate.) - Three to five years of supervisory experience.
