Position Overview
The Director of Behavioral Health Services Director is responsible for providing administrative oversight of the mental health program and mental health staff across CorrHealth facilities. This role ensures the effective implementation of contractually required services, facilitates communication between correctional officials, public agencies, and the company, and seeks opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies within the facility's mental health services. Key responsibilities include managing the department budget, overseeing mental health services, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Additionally, the Behavioral Health Director provides supervision and support to BSW-level team members, assisting them in obtaining their MSW credentials.
Essential Duties
✓ Acts as point of contact for Mental Health team members in the discussion of treatment programs and problem resolution as needed
✓ Manages production of work by all mental health team members as it relates to program effectiveness
✓ Coordinates the development and revision of policies and for the identification, assessment and provision of required clinical services for inmates
✓ Supervise the planning, development and implementation of treatment programs contracted to CorrHealth
✓ Provides clinical supervision to team members of Mental Health Services
✓ Performs direct clinical services at the level expected for a licensed professional, assumes the role needed/accepts 24/7 on-call status
✓ Ensures contracted treatment programs are integrated and appropriately staffed
✓ Responsible for the clinical supervision and direction, professional education, and staff development of mental health professionals at the facility, and ensures appropriate licensure and insurance coverage
✓ Responsible to provide clinical and consultation services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Facility, and the standards of the American Psychological Association, as well as National Commission on Correctional Health Care and American Correctional Association accreditation standards if NCCHC and ACA standards are applicable to facility
✓ Completes and submits monthly statistical, narrative, summary, and/or operational reports
✓ Evaluates and recommends methods of improving operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
✓ Allocate staff resources to meet facility needs for mental health services.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
✓ LPCC or LCSW required, minimum five years
✓ Doctorate level in Psychology or Social Work preferred
✓ Required to obtain/retain licensure to practice in the state where services are being delivered
✓ Three (3) years management and supervision techniques, peer review, quality assurance, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders, and psychological evaluation techniques
✓ Experience in health care planning, budgeting and meeting contractual obligations preferred
✓ Five (5) years of related work experience in a correctional/detention setting preferred.
✓ Must be mature, flexible, intellectually alert, possess good decision-making skills, able to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff, and philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility

✓ Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. for this position
✓ Must have current CPR/BLS certification
✓ Must have current TB test (taken within one year)
✓ Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures as well as the policies and procedures listed in the Employee Handbook
✓ Willing to assist coworkers in the job duties and work overtime if required; may act as a resource to other coworkers
✓ Maintains confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements
Security Requirements
✓ Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test (as applicable)
✓ Must obtain and maintain security clearance with the client/facility as a requisite for initial and/or continued employment
✓ Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures
Physical/Mental Requirements
This position routinely requires (but is not limited to) the following:
✓ Ability to both remain stationary and move/traverse throughout the facility, including up and down flights of stairs
✓ Ability to position oneself in different spaces
✓ Ability to convey and discern information in a conversation, frequently communicate with patients; must be able to exchange accurate information.
✓ Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations from a variety of distances
✓ Ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations
✓ Frequently transports objects up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
Work is performed inside a correctional facility. Employees are exposed to some level of risk
and/or harm by inmates including exposure to blood borne pathogens. Employee is expected to
work in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize the risk of danger and/or
harm to themselves or other employees.

Employee must comply with all current and future State, Federal, and Local laws and regulations, court orders, Administrative Directives and standards and policies and procedures of the site where assigned, including those of professional organizations such as ACA, NCCHC, etc. Employee must treat every other member of the CorrHealth team, all correctional personnel, all inmates and third parties in the facility with the proper dignity and respect. Actions or communications that are inappropriate or degrading will not be tolerated.
