PROFILE: Highline Public Schools is seeking a Director of Budget Strategy to join the Business Services team of the System Support division. As a member of the Business services leadership team, this role is responsible to lead, direct, and supervise the implementation of the district's budget strategy with specific focus upon the areas of categorical and supplemental budget development, grant strategy and administration, and management of Student Learning and Support divisional budgets. An ideal candidate has experience in adult learning and training, proficiency in professional writing across audiences and an understanding of fiscal management as a necessary component of a holistic strategic resource management approach. With experience working in a K-12 mid-sized district, the ideal candidate will work to create coalitions across divisions to ensure that the district's resource strategy aligns to the district's strategic plan goals, in service of equitable teaching and learning for all students. This position works closely with the other members of the Business Services leadership team for aligned budget management and effective business operations district-wide. This role has supervisory duties and direct budget authority.
Please note the following hiring timeline: This position will close for screening at 11:30pm on July 24. District leadership screening will be conducted on a rolling basis through Monday July 29; for site-based screening thereafter. Interviews are tentatively scheduled later in the week of July 29 with the possibility of early the week August 5. Interviewed candidates can expect this selection process to include a finalist interview with the Superintendent or his designee.
SUMMARY: This position serves on the leadership team of the Business Services department under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. It is responsible to lead, direct, and supervise the implementation of budget strategy functions of the Business Services department which encompasses the areas of categorical and supplemental budget development, grant strategy and administration, and management of Student Learning and Support divisional budgets, while also supporting the overall effectiveness of the department's general operations. The Director of Budget Strategy directly supervises, evaluates and develops all members of the Budget Strategy team. The position ensures that the district's resource strategy aligns to the district's strategic plan goals in service of equitable teaching and learning for all students.
