Beyond helping lead America back to the Moon, Astrobotic developed and operates reusable vertical takeoff, vertical landing (VTVL) rockets and continues to advance next-generation VTVL capabilities and advanced rocket engines. Established in 2007, Astrobotic is headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, with a propulsion and test campus in Mojave, CA.

The Director of Business Office oversees financial aspects of all project management activities, including budgeting, cost control, analysis, reporting, and ensuring projects execute within approved financial parameters. This role leads a team of project and financial management professionals while collaborating with company leadership to optimize profitability throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, this role manages internal Business Intelligence (BI), leveraging company data to improve decision-making, optimize operations, and enhance overall business performance.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Management:
  • Monitor project spending against budgets and implement corrective actions for potential overruns
  • Oversee G&A department budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Create financial forecasts including revenue projections and expense estimates
  • Perform Earned Value Management analysis for large flight programs
  • Track contractual milestones that impact revenue
  • Generate financial reports including profitability analysis, variance reports, and KPIs
  • Partner with Controller to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

Schedule and Contract Management:
  • Create standardized schedules and perform schedule analysis for all projects
  • Identify and mitigate potential schedule delays
  • Track contract obligations and compliance terms
  • Ensure expenditures comply with company policies and monitor risk exposure

Strategic Planning:
  • Conduct financial feasibility analysis for proposals in collaboration with business development
  • Identify project financial risks and recommend solutions
  • Evaluate outsourcing vs. in-house solutions for administrative functions
  • Participate in project planning to integrate financial considerations

Leadership and Communication:
  • Communicate financial status to Leadership Team, project teams, and Controller
  • Manage project management financial systems and implement process improvements
  • Provide leadership to project and financial management professionals

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proven experience in project financial management, preferably in aerospace
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data interpretation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, project management tools, and earned value management

Salary

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and the candidates professional experience. Base salary is just one component of Astrobotic's competitive total rewards strategy.
