- The Director of Charter Schools Partnerships and School Choice will facilitate the development, design and implementation of all policies and practices associated with the authorizing of charter schools by the Jefferson Parish Schools Board. In addition to the responsibilities related to charter school oversight, this individual will also oversee School Choice in JPS. The individual will help implement cross-organizational initiatives as designated by the Chief of District Affairs Officer.

Scope of Responsibility:
- Supports the Chief of District Affairs Officer in the charter renewal/non-renewal process including
- organizing appropriate district personnel (Instructional Services, Finance, Legal Services, etc.) to ensure
- that decisions are made in the best interest of Jefferson Parish students.
- Designs and implements a Charter Application process that fully complies with all state laws and ensures
- Jefferson Parish attracts and authorizes the best applicants possible.
- Within the guidelines of charter law, supports and monitors the instructional programs of charter schools
- operating in Jefferson Parish.
- Manages all regulatory and compliance aspects of charter schools; review applicable state laws related to
- the administration of charter schools; provide support to charter school personnel in addressing
- compliance matters (e.g. annual self-evaluation, annual financial audit); assist with monitoring of
- contracts to ensure that terms and conditions are fulfilled.
- Supports the continued operation of quality charter schools to fulfill the legislative intent of charter law
- and the District's Strategic Plan.
- Assists charter school personnel in addressing operational issues and concerns during the school year to
- maintain compliant operations and faithfulness to the terms of each school's charter.
- Organizes and supports school-site visiting teams to share promising practices and effective approaches to
- operations.
- Oversees the development of standardized processes, templates, and forms associated with the
- implementation of the policies and practices of the District's charter authorizing responsibilities.
- Supports the establishment of goals and performance measures for the office and assist in the management
- of the staff of the Office of Charter Schools to meet the District's goals and objectives.
- Maintains good personal relations and serves as liaison as delegated between the Chief of District Affairs
- Officer, the Louisiana Department of Education, charter schools and staff, private business, community,
- media, general public, etc.
- Develops and manages Adult Education department budgets and authorize expenditures.
- Recruits, hires, directly supervises and monitors performance of qualified instructors and support staff for
- the Adult Education Program
- Participates in meetings with Louisiana Technical Colleges.
- Assures the accurate and timely collection and reporting of data as required by federal, state, and local
- systems.
- Seeks grant funding for development programs related to Adult Education
- Coordinates data collection and reporting for accountability, accreditation, and program review
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of District Affairs Officer.
Skills and Qualifications:

Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:
- Minimum Master's degree in Education required with at least 5 years of progressively increasing
- experience as an educational leader.
- Experience with and detailed knowledge of charter schools, including familiarity with applicable state and
- federal laws.
- Knowledge of quality instructional practices and professional development in these practices.
- Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture- creator that can inspire and motivate.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
- Collaborative management style, with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results.
- High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.
- Exceptional writing skills.
- Ability to synthesize performance data from a variety of sources.
Physical Involvement:
- Sitting is required part of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds is sometimes required.
- Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites.
- Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
