Job Summary: This position is responsible for the development, and implementation of clinical education across all patient centered areas of the Brattleboro Retreat. The position assures that fidelity to the goals, philosophy and organizational objectives align with the professional development of staff. Coordinates and implements clinical education activities including competency validation and onboarding activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an approved school of nursing and current license to practice as a RN in the State of Vermont. Three to five years of management experience required. Three to five years of psychiatric nursing experience is required with all age populations. At least two years of experience in education and or teaching strongly preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for organization wide clinical training curriculum(s) that compliment and align with the Retreat's mission, values and strategic objectives.
Leads the clinical workforce development and training team, fostering collaboration and innovation to deliver effective training programs and resources.
Develops learning roadmaps, development processes and programs to support the organizations diverse talent and leadership needs for patient care areas ensuring the organization has appropriate workforce planning strategies/mechanisms in place to support its growth objectives.
Develops, implements, and ensures continued success of graduate nurse preceptor program.
Assures a workplace environment and culture that optimizes learning and contributes to excellent patient care
through educational oversight and patient safety to reduce the likelihood of health care errors.
Demonstrates a workplace that is committed to the Brattleboro Retreat's mission and core values as outlined in
the strategic plan.
Fosters a teamwork approach when problem solving.
Partners with Human Resources on staff development activities such as performance improvement plan education and patient safety initiatives.
Supports Clinical Managers in ensuring staff is competent and up to date with required mandatories.
Collaborates with organizational stakeholders in establishing and maintains policies, procedures and documentation standards for the departments.
Follows all organizational policies and procedures outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual of the
Brattleboro Retreat.
Collaborates in the development and maintenance of the annual operating budget for department/unit.
Attends required management meetings and in-services.
Completes required mandatory education, e-learning courses assigned to improve skills and professional
development courses required to maintain competency.

Acts as a liaison to nursing staff, medical staff and other departments.
Conducts training and orientation for clinical staff.
Contributes effectively to the nursing administrative team, participates in performance improvement and
nursing council committees.

and dependability.
Assists in planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating educational programming consistent with the
goals and objectives of the Brattleboro Retreat.
Participates in training of nursing new hires to include all Mental Health Workers, LPN's and all new RN staff. Works closely with the Human Resource Department to assure mandatory training and clinical training needs
are met for all clinical staff hires.
Evaluates competence of orientees at the conclusion of orientation and makes recommendations to clinical
managers regarding their competence.
Provides clinical mentoring to nursing staff as requested by clinical managers.
Day shift
40 hours weekly
