Overview
OVERVIEW: Direct the strategic planning and daily operations of the clinical education program, including all clinical and internship placements.

This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC's newly established School of Nursing and Health Sciences and shape an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing. Construction was recently completed on the 150,000+ sq. ft state-of-the-art facility located on the PC Campus, . This new facility houses the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and future nursing undergraduate and graduate programs in development. The Center also features the latest classroom design and technologies and showcases an extensive simulation suite with expansive clinical simulation laboratories and research facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Secure all clinical and internship placements for nursing students. Ensure compliance with all clinical requirements. Create policies and develop waivers needed for unique clinical situations (i.e. unvaccinated students, COVID testing, quarantine, isolation, etc.). Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clinical practice partners and clinical faculty. Routinely visit clinical sites to conduct site evaluations for ongoing quality assurance of appropriateness and effectiveness of these sites. Assure clinical sites are appropriate in number and skill acquisition for the corresponding didactic course. Oversee the thorough integration and proper use of technology within the Clinical Placement Office. Provide reports for accreditation that address the clinical component of the curriculum. Organize Skills Week and Medication Exams at the start of each semester. Develop and maintain clinical budgets. Review and update clinical education course materials, including manuals, faculty orientation, and handbook policies. Collaborate with clinical faculty, didactic faculty and Director of Simulation and Labs to assess best practices for achieving academic objectives, regarding learning issues as they pertain to clinical teaching and enhancement of scenarios to achieve course and end of program student learning objectives more effectively and consistently. Recruit, orient, monitor, evaluate, and support clinical faculty. Match faculty credentials to appropriate clinical setting to ensure appropriate and consistent delivery of the curriculum in the clinical setting as part of the hiring process. Assure clinical faculty files are updated and accurate. Develop, conduct, and evaluate faculty professional development education sessions each semester. (60%)
  • Oversee the Summer Nursing Academy (SNA), secure sites for SNA, onboard students and faculty, and coordinate housing, transportation, excursions, immunizations, licensure, and ongoing oversight of the Academy during the summer. (10%)
  • Plan for the special ceremonies within the Department of Nursing related to clinicals, including the Caring with Dignity Ceremony, Blessing of Healing Hands Ceremony, and Pinning Ceremony. (10%)
  • Collaborate with faculty and the Director of Simulation and Labs on a comprehensive student direct care experience. Possess a thorough understanding of the nursing curriculum. Attend Board of Nursing (BON) meetings monthly to monitor compliance of the Nursing department with state regulations. Adhere to all Rhode Island Board of Nursing policies and procedures in relation to clinical faculty and faculty waivers. (10%)
  • Teach courses as determined by load each semester in simulation, lab, or classroom. (10%)

  • MARGINAL DUTIES:

  • Education and Experience
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution required. Master's degree in nursing preferred.
    • Three to five years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
    • Licensure in clinical discipline such as medicine, nursing, psychology, clinical social work, or a related field.
    • Strong customer service skills and a true commitment to providing solutions in a timely way.
    • Ability to work quickly and thoroughly, prioritizing work based on urgency and demand. Demonstrated understanding that details matter and must be correct.
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Centralized Clinical Placement Platform, and Clinical Education Office Software.
    • Requires availability evenings, early mornings, and weekends when students are in the clinical setting.
