Job Summary

The Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for the oversight of the clinical care provided to patients, the operations of the bases from a clinical perspective, and the safe and effective operations of the communications center. Accountable for ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, and service agreements.

Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Oversight of clinical leadership team to include clinical education and clinical supervisors, and positions
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the clinical operations department
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of clinical flight crews, oversight of Communications Center
  • Admin on-call (AOC) or backup/consulting AOC
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Health Bureau of EMS, CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems and other industry specific standards
  • Relational management with external entities including hospitals, EMS, Fire, 911, and law enforcement agencies
  • Oversight of partner engagement, evaluating and granting approval of event resource and asset needs
  • Oversight of certifications, contracts, and compliance with rule making bodies (DOH, Bureau of EMS, ground EMS agencies, Watkins Glen, URMC, etc.)
  • Oversight and assistance with flight related data collection and reporting - operational review and KPI's
  • Budget and Resource Management
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to meet operational needs.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Department specific policy and procedure drafting and reviewing
  • Relationship management with external entities- specialty transport teams, ground EMS agencies
  • Primary lead in liaison with and management of consulting agreements
  • Participates in Process Improvement Risk Management committee meetings
  • Oversight and participation in external meetings (regional EMS council and high level hospital engagement meetings)
  • Provides clinical operational update at MFC Board of Directors meetings
  • Oversight of controlled substance program compliance
  • Participates in annual performance evaluations for department personnel
  • Performs special projects as assigned
  • Provides status reporting as directed


Requirements

Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum NYS Paramedic and/or NYS Registered Nurse,
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous leadership experience in a health care/EMS operations environment
  • 3-5 years of experience in air medical transport industry preferred
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Professional software
  • Must possess basic computer competency and keyboarding skills
