We have hundreds of CareerWise apprentices in the workplace, charting new paths to academic and career success. In addition, workforce and education leaders from across the country have visited CareerWise to learn about our youth apprenticeship model. As a result, our programs have launched in multiple states, leveraging our institutional knowledge, technology, and infrastructure.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director, CareerWise Colorado (CWC), the Director of (CO) District Strategy will focus on connecting with and building school district partnerships throughout the state of Colorado. The person in this role will help refine, extend, and continuously find ways to improve youth apprenticeship partnerships allowing for future growth and fostering deeper collaboration, leadership engagement and buy-in from school administrators across the state.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • INNOVATIVE, LIFE-LONG EDUCATOR | You are deeply committed to supporting the work of educators in the state of Colorado. You tirelessly strive to find ways to engage students and education partners but also understand the multiple barriers and challenges to incorporating high quality, scaled career-connected learning opportunities from both the school perspective and the student perspective.
  • BARRIER-BREAKER | Your previous work as an educator drives you to level-set learning and ensure the same opportunities are available for all students. You know how to communicate with school and district leaders and leverage your relationships with them to have ongoing conversations about access to youth apprenticeship programs.
  • COALITION BUILDER | You strategize and build enthusiasm with prospective school partners and you also tend to the needs and requests of established school partners to build an alliance of school leaders that are championing youth apprenticeship throughout the state of Colorado.
  • THOUGHT PARTNER | You are seen as a thought partner for educators and district/school leadership as you are able to creatively position youth apprenticeship as a tool to increase student engagement and ways to help schools comply with ICAP requirements. You can also help district/school leaders articulate how youth apprenticeship can build infrastructure for a localized, sustainable talent pipeline through school and district level approaches.
  • MEASURING SUCCESS | You will manage, report and drive team accountability for youth apprenticeship participation using participation data, outcomes, placements, etc.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Key competencies to be successful in this role:
  • Previous leadership role in a large, complex school district
  • Experience in a strategic and/or partnership-focused role
  • Experience building sustainable partnerships that have helped drive improved educational outcomes
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the principles of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)
  • Lives out the CareerWise values and has a passion for the CareerWise mission and vision

Additional proficiencies:
  • You must have at least 4 years of school leadership experience
  • You intentionally stay up-to-date on Colorado Department of Education initiatives and know how to weave youth apprenticeship into these initiatives (Examples: ICAP, CTE, work-based learning, youth apprenticeship, etc.)
  • You must be resourceful and willing to connect with and foster new school district partnerships
  • Experience using and optimizing the capabilities of a CRM and databases (preferably Salesforce)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and project management software (like Monday.com)
  • Experience and comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to understand and interpret the multiple complexities of the evolving youth apprenticeship movement

Location:

This role is based in Denver, Colorado. CareerWise staff typically work a hybrid work schedule with varying days in the office and other days remote. Remote work is not guaranteed and the schedule must be approved by the supervisor. There will also be occasions throughout the year for all CareerWise staff to gather together in person. Exceptions will be made for special circumstances.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is: $84,872 (min) - $127,308 (max) annually; this role is not covered by the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the FLSA. CareerWise offers a generous benefits package including group medical, dental, and vision plans, short-term disability, 100% vested 401k Plan with a 3% employer contribution, and Flexible Time Off.
