Salary: Director of College Advising Framework (Steps 1-15) Range: $68,900 - $106,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and education level.

Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,350 students in grades K-12 across four campuses.

HTH seeks a Director of College Advising responsible for building relationships that will lead to resources for students, under the direct supervision of the School Director.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of College Counseling is responsible for building relationships with the school leadership team, national organizations and college/ universities that will lead to resources for students. It is the ultimate goal of the college counseling department, through guidance and education, to ensure that all graduates have the ability to maintain success in their academic, professional and personal lives. The Director of College Counseling is charged with keeping the college counseling program woven into all aspects of HTH high school campuses to ensure that the program does not work in isolation from the school's mission.

Duties include:
Create access to college resources and opportunities available to support underrepresented populations
Advise and coach all students, including students with unique circumstances through the financial aid process
Support junior and senior level college counseling teachers with lesson planning, lesson execution and classroom management
Provide College Counseling Coaching support to the junior and senior counselors as they prepare students towards college access and persistence through college
Conduct weekly one-on-one check-ins with direct reports and participate in weekly one-on-one check-ins with the School Leader and the Director of College Match, along with mid-year and end of year evaluations
Provide family engagement workshops related to college match
Maintain constant and consistent communication on the data progress of students with key stakeholders including: HTH Foundation, College personnel, CBO's, School and regional leadership, and state leadership, along with students and families
Effectively plan the organization and time management of the team in planning parent nights, college visits, guest speakers, career exploration trips and other college and career access programming
Develop innovative and creative solutions through programming that problem solve gaps in college knowledge and access for students and families

The ideal candidate would possess the following competencies:
College and career readiness knowledge and skills
Leadership and supervisory capability
Project Management experience and skills
Data Management Capabilities
Communication and Presentation skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree required; Masters' degree preferred
At least 3 years or more of professional work experience in College Admissions or Career Advising preferred
Experience in public education or non-profit a strong plus
