SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Director of Construction (DOC) provides management oversight for all phases of the construction project, including budgeting, coordinating workers, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Must be able to oversee and handle multiple projects at one time. Must be motivated and be a hands-on working manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with client and any other assigned contacts to facilitate construction project activities.
  • Develop a cost-effective budget, plan, and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
  • Oversee the daily construction activities at all work sites to include scheduling of assigned personnel and sub-contractors, delivery of materials, and project progress.
  • Select and coordinate work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project.
  • Complete project responsibility and authority across all functions from contracts to completion of multiple projects.
  • Is responsible for proper administration of construction contracts including disputes and changes and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
  • Track and control construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated.
  • Interface and communicate with senior management on progress of projects. Partner with them to resolve strategic issues that arise.
  • Review engineered drawings for contract compliance including specifications and constructability. Resolve any issues as early in the process as possible.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors and in-house personnel are adhering to all OSHA labor and safety compliance rules and regulations.
  • Conduct weekly project progress report meetings with client/contract administrator.
  • Represent company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at one time to completion within required timeline & budget.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
  • 4-year degree in a related field preferred.
  • Commercial Construction and/or Facility Maintenance experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in supervising construction projects
  • Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and solutions to leadership and key business partners


  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to hold sub-contractors accountable during all phases of the project.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel is required.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Valid Driver's License is required

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by the job are close vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their
