Description:
The Director of Corporate Sustainability will be responsible for the coordination of DU's rapidly expanding private sector business portfolio across the organization. Reporting to the Managing Director for National Sustainability Programs, the Director of Corporate Sustainability will support the organization's fundraising efforts and the onboarding and stewardship of DU's large corporate and institutional donors. This position must work closely with appropriate DU staff and volunteer leaders to ensure DU is maximizing opportunities to leverage sustainability outcomes to further the organization's mission.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who works independently as well as part of a team and is driven to succeed. The selected candidate must be willing to work hours that extend beyond the typical workday and workweek throughout the year; occasional overnight travel is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience. This position is based out of DU NHQ in Memphis, TN.

The Director of Corporate Sustainability will also:
- Manage and support sustainability prospect development processes.
- Maintain prospect criteria and prospect lists and own the process and verification of moves management for Development.
- Prepare pertinent information for newly identified corporate prospects to ensure DU's fundraising strategy is sound.
- Lead appropriate cross-divisional teams for prospect strategy development and execution.
- Ensure proposals have deliverable, science-based conservation outcomes.
- Ensure proposals allow for investment in DU's ongoing mission program initiatives at levels required to sustain and grow private sector programs.
- Prioritize opportunities that will bring the most positive impact while balancing resources required and outcome.
- Support DU's development officers in the execution of fundraising plans and the onboarding of new partners.
- Assist in reviewing and evaluating cross-functional team processes, projects, and programs, ensuring DU maximizes opportunities with corporations seeking to meet their sustainability goals.
- Manage the development of expanding stewardship strategies for DU's corporate partners, including recognition and awards programs.
- Ensure DU's plans for recognizing significant partnerships through internal and external media channels are appropriately prioritized and delivered.
- Facilitate the creation of expanded communications assets to educate and promote DU's sustainability outcomes.
Director of Corporate Sustainability desired abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum five years of experience in sustainability & goal setting strategies
- Can interpret and access sustainability strategies, metrics & goals.
- Quickly research sustainability issues/topics and formulate simple summaries for DU colleagues.
- Review Corporate ESG/Sustainability reports and other sources (e.g., CDP disclosure, 10k, TCFD, etc.) and summarize an entity's conservation interests/needs.
- Manage business processes and leverage IT tools.
- Effectively communicate process gaps and opportunities across the organization
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team-building skills
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance to other fundraising professionals and volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them on time with limited supervision.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs.
