Position Summary
The Director of Critical Care Nursing Services provides leadership and oversight for the Medical-Surgical Unit and the Special Care Unit. The Director acts as a liaison and administrative resource to all areas outside of nursing services, including providing nursing scope of practice oversight and guidance to clinical support departments including: Cardiac testing, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Diagnostic Imaging. This leader role models and promotes life-long learning, exceptional clinical competence and achievement of the highest standards of professional practice among team members. This results oriented director partners with the Medical Directors for Med-Surg and Critical Care as well as other Medical Staff and department leaders in facilitating intra-professional teams, strategic planning, allocation of resources, and forecasting change within the acute care environment. Other duties may be required as determined by circumstance or as delegated by the Chief Nursing Officer.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN is required. Master's Degree in Nursing or other related field is preferred. License/Certifications: Current licensure in the State of Maine as a registered nurse. Professional specialty certification in Medical Surgical, Critical Care and/or nursing leadership preferred. Current BLS required. Achieves/maintains ACLS and CPI within 6 months of hire. Experience: Minimum five (5) years' experience in acute care nursing is required. Minimum two (2) years' experience in leadership roles is required. Keeps current in nursing practice by attending at least one conference/seminar and/or by completing appropriate continuing education in specialty field(s) each review year. Articulates elements of professional practice and demonstrates knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice and Patient and Family Centered Care, understanding of teamwork and collaboration, effective verbal/written communication skills, and knowledge of process improvement and sound safety strategies.
- Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
