DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Curriculum Director provides leadership and oversight in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district's curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices in alignment with Board of Education policy. This role ensures implementation of state and district standards, promotes instructional excellence, and supports professional learning initiatives to enhance student achievement.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum for grades Pre-K-8 and ensure sequential learning experiences for students that meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards
  • Develop and implement policies related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment as required by local, state and federal guidelines
  • Oversee the selection, adoption, and distribution and integration of instructional materials and textbooks.
  • Ensure consistency in curriculum across grade levels and subject areas
  • Support teachers and administrators in implementing research-based instructional methods
  • Promote the integration of technology into instruction to enhance student learning
  • Conduct classroom visitations to assess educational and operational effectiveness and assist school administrators to establish and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Provide support to administrators and instructional coaches to provide job-embedded professional development that has the greatest probability to support teachers with best instructional practices
  • Ensure instructional programs meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners and students with disabilities
  • Advocate for equitable access to high-quality educational resources for all students
  • Collect and analyze data to inform best practices and develop systemic responses to improve academic and social growth for all students
  • Work with educators to use data-driven decision-making for student achievement
  • Identify and provide ongoing professional development opportunities that align with district initiatives
  • Maintain professional development records and provide proof of participation to district employees
  • Work closely with principals, instructional coaches, and teachers to ensure effective curriculum implementation
  • Oversee Acceleration guidelines and programs
  • Organize summer school programming
  • Chair appropriate committees (i.e. Curriculum Council, SEL)
  • Participate in the hiring and evaluation of instructional staff
  • Support new teacher induction and mentoring programs
  • Manage the curriculum and professional development budget
  • Communicate curriculum initiatives and changes to staff, families, and the school board
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee

QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced Degree and Professional Educator Licensure

Minimum five years of successful teaching

Administrative experience at the elementary/junior high level preferred

Knowledge of:
  • Curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
  • Deep knowledge of reading, writing, literacy development, and/or math
  • Educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to educational programming


Ability to:
  • Design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators and teachers to maintain the efficient operation of the district.
  • Maintain a results-oriented focus in a high integrity environment

110,000.00-135,000.00
