Pascack Valley Regional High School District (PVRHSD) is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as our next Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA). This critical role will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of our curriculum, drive instructional improvement, and foster a collaborative and student-centered learning environment.
About PVRHSD:
The Pascack Valley Regional High School District in Bergen County, New Jersey, serves approximately 1,800 students in grades 9-12. Our high-performing and innovative district comprises two high schools: Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale and Pascack Hills High School in Montvale. These two schools serve students from the four sending towns of Hillsdale, Montvale, River Vale, and Woodcliff Lake.
Position Summary:
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of curriculum, instruction, and assessment within PVRHSD. This individual will be a champion for student success, a strong advocate for teachers, and a collaborative partner with administrators, staff, and the community.

- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a rigorous and equitable curriculum that meets the diverse needs of all learners.
- Drive instructional improvement by supporting teachers in effective pedagogy, providing high-quality professional development, and fostering teacher leadership.
- Oversee the district's assessment program, ensuring a balanced approach that measures deep learning and informs instruction.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that values teacher expertise and empowers them in decision-making.
- Utilize data to inform curriculum and professional development decisions.
- Build strong relationships with teachers, staff, administrators, students, and parents.
- Manage the CIA budget effectively and explore grant opportunities to support district initiatives.
- Stay current with educational research and best practices, and promote innovation within the district.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Significant high school classroom teaching experience (5-10+ years strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Leadership/supervisory experience (e.g., assistant superintendent, department supervisor, content-area supervisor, principal, or curriculum director).
- CSA Certificate or eligibility to obtain CSA Certificate.
Preferred:
- Experience as an assistant superintendent, department supervisor, or principal.
- Experience designing and leading professional development for teachers.
Desired:
- Grant writing experience.
- Mentorship experience with a previous Director of CIA.
- Involvement in state and national professional organizations.
- Experience with diverse learners.
- Experience with qualitative research.
