SUMMARY: The Director of Curriculum is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district's educational programs and federally funded programs. The Director is accountable for ensuring that the curriculum aligns with state and/or national standards, meets the needs of diverse student populations, and is delivered effectively by all teachers. Additionally, the Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of federally funded programs, grants, and initiatives within the school district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific tasks and/or activities under each of the following responsibilities will be assigned by the Supervisor
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent, provides leadership in planning and conducting of curriculum studies including special programs for new courses, funding, staffing requirements, and curriculum impact
  • Participates in the selection of textbooks and provides guidance concerning textbooks and other instructional material usage
  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent in the development and implementation of instructional programs
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines for program implementation, including monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate program evaluations, audits, and monitoring visits from federal agencies.
  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent in providing professional development opportunities for teachers and instructional coaches to support high-quality instruction and the implementation of the district's curriculum.
  • Develop and implement systems for assessing the effectiveness of the curriculum and instructional practices, including conducting regular evaluations of curriculum materials and instructional strategies.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent oversees the District standardized testing program
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to support program implementation and sustainability.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent oversees the integration of technology into the instructional program

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Appraising performance; including rewarding and disciplining employees
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction Certificate, Principal Certification K-12 or Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility
  • Master's degree in Education or related field required; Doctorate degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of classroom experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role in curriculum and instruction and program administration, grant management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws related to education and curriculum.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of professional development programs for teachers and instructional coaches.
