About the role

Chime is looking for an engineering leader to help manage and guide our data engineering teams. This is a leadership role will lead and provide technical guidance to a team building new data capabilities

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $228,870.00 and up to $324,200.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data engineers, architects, ML platform engineers and infrastructure engineers to build a high performing team
  • Architect and build a scalable data platform to support diverse data needs, including various upstream and downstream data integrations, batch and real-time insights, and multiple data types
  • Implement best practices for data ingestion, creation, enrichment and management, including data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing, real-time data streaming, processing, storage and real time insights
  • Manage data infrastructure, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal performance while ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the data infrastructure.
  • Scale our ML platform to help accelerate business impact from our AI investment
  • Develop and execute on a strategic roadmap for data infrastructure and engineering that ensures strong data foundation and aligns with the company's overall business and data strategy.
  • Work closely with all data, product, engineering, technology and business partners to understand comprehensive data requirements and ensure our solutions meet their needs.
  • Cultivate a culture of business impact focus, innovation, continuous improvement and excellence within the team.
  • Act as a key liaison between the data engineering team and other technical and non-technical teams within the organization.
To thrive in this role, you have
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related field or relevant hands-on experience
  • 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a similar leadership position and 3 years in hands-on role
  • Proven track record of designing and managing large-scale data infrastructures in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms and big data technologies including proficiency in database management systems and data warehousing solutions
  • Experience with data integration tools and techniques, processes and real-time data streaming and processing
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams
  • The ability to effectively empower and influence partners and teams at all levels
