Here is what you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in data management analysis, computer science, computer engineering, statistics, or other IT-related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least 7-9 years of experience in analytics in addition to database administration experience.
- A track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strategic thinking and a passion for leveraging data to drive business growth.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of data integration technologies, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts; solid comprehension of various cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, AWS, etc.
- Experience with AI technologies and their implementation in a business setting.
- Knowledge of data modeling, dimensional modeling, data quality, and metadata management
- Experience with healthcare data and an understanding of relevant regulations a plus (e.g., HIPAA).
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R), data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau), and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
A Day in the Life of a Director of Data Management:
- Provide services and support for the following areas:
- Lead and mentor a data management team: The Director of Data Management is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of data management and operations professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the data infrastructure and quality: The Director of Data Management is responsible for assessing and managing the data infrastructure, maintaining and monitoring data quality, and driving initiatives to address any issues or gaps. This includes a focus on data cleansing in order to leverage AI technology.
- Build and implement a data strategy: The Director of Data Management is responsible for building a cohesive data strategy that harmonizes enterprise data management initiatives in a unified roadmap, aligned with business goals. This also includes evangelizing data literacy within the organization.
- Oversee data integration and reporting: The Director of Data Management is responsible for overseeing the integration of various cloud and on-premise technologies to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility across the organization. The Director of Data Management is also responsible for collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to understand their data needs and deliver data-driven insights and reporting capabilities.
- Stay informed and recommend new data technologies: The Director of Data Management is responsible for staying informed about emerging data integration and management technologies and trends, evaluating and recommending new tools, technologies, and platforms to meet business requirements. Curiosity and innovation are encouraged!
- Ensure data security and compliance: The Director of Data Management is responsible for collaborating to ensure data security, regulatory compliance, and reduce the data risk surface area through state-of-the-art data handling standards.
