Job Description
Are you a dynamic fundraising professional with a passion for global engagement and philanthropy? Do you thrive in building relationships with international donors and advancing higher education on a worldwide scale? If so, Indiana University Foundation (IUF) invites you to apply for the role of Director of Development, International Advancement, a key new leadership position driving international philanthropic growth for one of the nation's leading public universities.
As the Director of Development, International Advancement you will be pivotal working with campuses, schools, and units across Indiana University in identifying, cultivating, and securing major gifts ($50,000+) from internationally affiliated alumni, parents, and friends-both domestically and abroad. Working closely with the Executive Director for International Advancement and reporting to the Vice President of Development, Bloomington, you will spearhead fundraising efforts that align with IU's global priorities. This is an exciting new approach to international advancement at Indiana University. Critical to your success, you will leverage your cross-cultural competency to develop personalized engagement strategies that foster long-term donor relationships.

This position is based out of either our Bloomington, Indiana office or our Indianapolis, Indiana office. Extensive domestic and international travel is required, and working hours will vary greatly both while navigating travel and while connecting with donors and alumni in different time zones. The compensation range for this role is $100,000.00- $115,000.00 annually.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Detailed knowledge of current fundraising trends and techniques.
- Enhanced interpersonal skills and judgment suitable for exercising appropriate discretion and demeanor when dealing with prospects, donors, alumni, faculty, and staff.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills up to and including, but not limited to, writing gift agreements, executive summaries of fundraising concepts, and proposals for solicitation(s).
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple demands and/or complex and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to use current computer technology, such as Windows, Excel, Word, etc.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in the handling of confidential information.
- Experience related to all aspects of planning and successfully executing large fundraising campaigns including working with academic leaders and preparing complex gift proposals.
- Possess an ability to work comfortably within an academic environment that possesses many competing interests, priorities and opinions.
- An understanding of the importance of, and demonstrated success in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion among staff, donors and volunteers.
- High level of cross-cultural competency and ability to exercise humility and curiosity in interacting with individuals from many different backgrounds.
- Excellent knowledge of fundraising, as well as demonstrated skills in major and planned gift solicitation and experience with major gift prospect management systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering collaboration across disciplines.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- A minimum of five years' experience in fundraising or relevant experience in complex, highly motivated environment (sales, marketing, PR, etc.). Strong preference will be given to those who have experience in higher education development, and developing international relationships, and/or navigating complex cultural norms.
