Director of Ecommerce (Full Time)

This job is on-site in Des Moines, Iowa. If you do not live in or around Des Moines, Iowa relocation will be required.
Position Summary:
The Ecommerce Director will work with our Executive team tooptimize our online presence, website functionality, customer acquisition plus enhance the customer experience through our platform. This position will manage the ecommerce staff and work to maximize sales while keeping continuity of the HM brand via the digital experience. The ideal candidate embraces a fast-paced environment and has exceptional communication skills along with being digitally savvy.
Essential Position Accountabilities:
Orchestrates a best in class, seamless customer omnichannel experience using research and analytics to drive decisions
Develops a strategic game plan to grow ecommerce revenue, increase conversion, boost customer retention, and find opportunities for incremental sales
Works with IT to ensure operational excellence with website functionality and constantly optimizes to improve customer experience, traffic, and conversion
Responsible for talent recruitment, development, and succession planning
Oversees digital efforts geared to grow business, increase customer engagement, promote products, and optimize the online experience
Leverages research tools and data to form strategic approaches that are driven by actionable insights
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize online processes that drive customer satisfaction and profitability
Develops the strategy and leads the execution for the ecommerce business unit, including content management, merchandising, data analytics and UI/UX design
Possesses the ability to identify, prioritize and articulate initiatives that can deliver the highest impact
Constantly evaluates systems and processes related to product information management and digital asset management
Deploys SEO tools and methods to ensure website is optimized for searching and performance responsiveness
Coordinates and collaborates with key stakeholders throughout the organization to enhance our digital presence and assist other departments with online initiatives
Works closely with all corporate departments to provide a clear understanding of online programs and capabilities plus works on adoption plans to generate more visibility for the website
Directs projects associated with website development/enhancement and works to train staff on new tool implementations
Tracks and measures program effectiveness to drive improvement or develop new offerings
Always evaluates and brings forth opportunistic concepts like Direct Ship offerings
Ensures that online presence has brand consistency and that services offered are portrayed accurately online
Formulates and presents relevant recommendations to consistently enhance homemakers.com
Demonstrates a sense of ownership, focusing on and driving critical issues to closure
Strategizes with Marketing Director to align overall marketing strategies and brand consistency across all touchpoints
Manages ecommerce vendors and negotiates all relevant contracts
Above responsibilities and additional duties may vary as assigned
Education/Work Experience Required:
Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field
10+ years ecommerce experience
3-5 years management experience
Knowledge of the furniture industry preferred
Experience with HTML, Photoshop, Web Reporting/Google Analytics, VPN
Solid knowledge of SEO, web analytics and Google AdWords
Ability to recruit, develop, manage & train staff
Strong analytical and project management skills
Strategic thinker but can be tactical if need be
High energy leader with ability to make difficult decisions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and carry through with numerous projects simultaneously
Must possess skill sets that foster talent development
Able to work collaboratively with other departments or independently
Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong written & verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Excel
