General Purpose: The Director of Educational Technology serves as a strategic and operational resource for the effective use of instructional technologies-including the learning management system (Moodle)-to enhance teaching, learning, and student success. This role combines system-level oversight with hands-on support to ensure the stability, usability, and academic alignment of digital tools.
This role has serves as a primary resource on the Hybrid Conversion Project under the direction of the L1 of said project - the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Working closely with faculty, instructional designers, IT teams, and academic leaders, the Director guides the thoughtful selection, implementation, and integration of educational technologies that support diverse learning environments. The role also leads faculty training, user support, and the promotion of best practices in digital pedagogy, advancing the institution's commitment to innovation, equity, and high-quality career-focused education.

Minimum qualifications include:
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership and Planning:
- Develop and lead a vision for the use of educational technology that supports institutional teaching and learning goals.
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of Moodle LMS across the institution.
- Monitor trends and emerging technologies in digital learning to inform future strategies.
- Collaborate with academic and curriculum leadership to identify and evaluate instructional technology needs and priorities.
- Technology Implementation and Integration
- Serve as the primary Moodle LMS administrator, managing system configuration, updates, plugins, and user roles.
- Coordinate the integration of Moodle with Zoom, SCORM, and other third-party tools.
- Ensure LMS accessibility, data security, and FERPA compliance.
- Supervise LMS projects and coordinate with IT for server-side support and login access management.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and respond to LMS tickets.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and faculty to develop Moodle-based instructional content.
- Oversee the implementation of institutional and departmental surveys.
- Faculty Support and Development:
- Design and lead faculty training sessions, orientation materials, and help desk support.
- Design and lead professional development programs and workshops.
- Serve as a resource to faculty on technology-enhanced teaching strategies.
- Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of educational technology initiatives.
- Collect and analyze data to inform decisions and report progress to business partners.
- Recommend and implement improvements to the user experience, automation processes, and instructional delivery.
- Foster a culture of innovation, assessment, and continuous improvement.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional/Educational Technology, Information Systems, Information Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or related field is preferred.
- If the degree is not in one of the above-mentioned areas, or a directly related field, candidates with at least five years of related work experience or evidence of specialized training related to the field may be considered.
- 3+ years of Moodle administration experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Strong understanding of Moodle's architecture, user roles, permissions, course setup, and plugin management.
- Experience with Moodle integrations (SCORM, LTI, Zoom, etc.).
