Director of ELC West: 2025-2026 School Year

The Exceptional Learners Collaborative (ELC) is seeking an exceptional candidate for the 2025-2026 school year. The ELC is located in Vernon Hills (Lake County), Illinois; is a special education cooperative providing services to students identified with special needs, ages 3 through 22 years of age. The ELC represents Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96, Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103, Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125 and Fox Lake District 114. The ELC serves eight elementary schools, four junior high/middle schools and one high school.

Description:
As we continue to provide world-class, specialized educational services and supports locally for our exceptional learners in partnership with families and districts, the Director of ELC West will lead the district's high school and transition public day school.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Illinois professional educator license with General Administrative or Principal endorsement
  • Teacher Evaluator Designation
  • Ability to travel within the member districts and move about ELC and district buildings as necessary
  • Prior special education and leadership experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads the district's high school and transition public day school
  • Develops and implements a shared mission and vision, continous improvement action plan and daily problem solving
  • Understands IL learning standards and DLM essential elements
  • Serves as instructional leader for high school and transition programming
  • Acts as a member of and collaborates with the ELC Cabinet
  • Demonstrates excellent oral skills and written communication skills
  • Understands complex students and how to support their needs
  • Possesses knowledge of best practices and leadership in special education
  • Interprets, analyzes and utilizes student growth and achievement data
  • Has knowledge and understanding of federal and state statutes and regulations and practices those accurately and effectively

Salary & Benefit Information:
  • Pay ranges from $130,000 - $145,000 dependent upon education level and experience
  • This is a 12-month position
