JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Rancho California Water District is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to fill the Director of Engineering position.

The Ideal Candidate...The ideal candidate will be well versed in a variety public projects with direct oversight experience, is able to establish effective relationships with the community, elected officials, and staff, and be comfortable making presentations simplifying technical data into easily understood information for the public.

Position Summary...
This an executive management level classification with responsibility for directing a District Division and programs including, short-term and long-term planning as well as development and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and services. Successfully performs the work requiring knowledge of public policy, District functions and activities, and the ability to develop, oversee, and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas of responsibility. Positions at this level report to the Senior Director of Engineering and Planning and directs the efforts of multiple department managers and other support staff. This position participates on the executive management team in support of the District's mission and strategic objectives. This job classification is at-will and unrepresented.

Work Schedule...
All full-time employees work a 9/80 schedule. Eligible employees may work a hybrid schedule, as determined by department needs.

Benefits...All full-time employees receive are enrolled in CalPERS Pension (2.7[redacted]+EPMC for Classic, 2[redacted] for PEPRA). Medical, dental, vision, basic life and AD&D, and LTD are fully covered for employees. Directors may be eligible for an annual executive physical, 457 matching, and executive bonus.

Qualification Guidelines...
The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities can be achieved through a variety of combinations of experience and training. A typical example is:
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering in a public water and/or sewer agency.
  • Five (5) years of experience in management.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • Professional Civil Engineer License.
