Job Description

What You Will Accomplish

Position Summary

Reporting to the President of the Napa Institute, the Director of Experiences and Hospitality will be responsible for developing and executing unique Napa Institute experiences internationally, to enhance our offerings and profitability across all Napa Institute programming. The Director will also ensure that Experiences to Rome and the Holy Land take place in regular cycles given the importance to Christians of these pilgrimage sites. The Director will also serve as a resource to ensure Napa Institute standards for hospitality for other events and offerings, with a focus on the East Coast. The position is full-time, DC-based, and in-person.

Essential Duties
  • Development of international and domestic Napa Institute pilgrimages and experiences, including setting vision, strategy, calendar, coordination, and execution.
  • Creates unique experiences, drives profitability, and enhances existing Napa Institute programming.
  • Manage group booking (room blocking, group bookings, group billing) and liaison with vendors to ensure consistent flawless execution of Experiences. Includes direct management of in-country logistics during Experiences.
  • Manages groups associated with events. Ensures communication is fluid with all involved vendors, properties, and attendees.
  • Coordinates content during Experiences to ensure balanced spiritual, cultural, and political dynamic for attendees.
  • Drives data and metrics within the Experiences arena to ensure quality and complete guest and client satisfaction.
  • Ensures excellent guides and spiritual directors for trips and serves in a guide role where location and past experience warrant it.
  • Assists in development of other events to ensure brand standard hospitality, with a focus in New York and Washington, DC.
  • Provides limited consultation and logistical assistance to friends of Napa Institute for their individual trips and pilgrimages, with emphasis on Rome and the Holy Land, but also including those locales that correspond with past work for Napa or beyond.
  • Oversee and manage budgets, P&L's, and contracts for all Napa Institute Experiences and related expenses.
  • Occasional writing and theological consulting for Napa content.


What You Will Bring
  • Must be a Catholic in good standing.
  • Understanding of Catholic Church holy sites and history strongly preferred.
  • Extensive experience planning travel, including for groups.
  • Prior experience with the planning, marketing, and execution of international events; with significant scope in size, location, and type of events.
  • 2+ years of event management experience helpful.
  • Prior experience with room blocks, group bookings, generating BEO's, group billing, etc.
  • Ability to manage a budget as related to events management.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication, organizational, and project management skills. Keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the execution of events to include weekends, early mornings, late nights, and holidays at times.
  • Able to demonstrate an advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Must possess superior computer proficiency to effortlessly generate reports, dashboards and other data as requested.
  • Must be physically able to stand/walk for extended periods of time while working.
  • Must be able to facilitate travel (both domestic and international) as directed.
