Summary

The Director of Facilities is responsible for promoting and enhancing efficient and safe operations and maintenance of campus facilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure that facilities are properly maintained and presentable to its constituents and the general public; ensure cleanliness and safety of campus buildings.
    • Work with Security vendor to ensure adequate security for the Manhattan and Bronx campuses; supervise college security staff.
    • Work with maintenance vendor to ensure adequate cleanliness of facilities; supervise maintenance staff.
    • Work with Office Services vendor to ensure appropriate mailroom and office services.
  • Develop daily work plans and supervise MCNY facilities staff; ensure proper repairs are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Work with Executive team to plan, implement and oversee construction, relocation and space planning projects.
  • Assess the needs for equipment repairs, renovations, and modifications.
  • Maintain adequate classroom supplies and first aid kits.
  • Work with building management to ensure the integrity of the emergency/fire warning system; coordinate emergency drills for staff and students.
  • Coordinate the installation and repair of utilities to ensure conformance with safety and fire regulations and building codes.
  • Work with members of the College to develop strategic planning activities for safe facility operations; assist in developing procedures for college use in the event of an emergency or crisis.
  • Evaluate and control maintenance costs; monitor utilities and security expenses and take appropriate action in implementing or improving cost control measures.
  • Oversee the purchase of materials and equipment needed for department.
  • Oversee departmental budget and monitor college-wide maintenance/security budgets.
  • Work with vendors to negotiate repairs, relocations, maintenance and security.
  • Work with other senior staff to coordinate graduation ceremonies.
  • Organize and maintain records for file retention and off-site storage.
  • Monitor and maintain college video surveillance system.
  • Manage HVAC systems.
  • Serve on various college committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by Vice President for Finance and Administration.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant facilities and management experience.
  • Must have knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are required, as well as planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, and ability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or other professional licenses are a plus.
