SUMMARY

The Director of FIELD Operations and CCEC is a high-level leadership position responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, and execution of FIELD's operational initiatives. This role ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of FIELD's programs, including the Corps operations, Career Technical Education (CTE) program, grants administration, and recycling programs. The Director collaborates with the Executive Director of Education Services and works closely with the Associate Director of Natural Resources to oversee FIELD's workforce development, sustainability efforts, and compliance with grant requirements. The Director is responsible for optimizing resources, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous operational improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Strategic and Operational Leadership
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to align with FIELD's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Oversee the execution and growth of the Corps program, ensuring alignment with industry and community needs.
  • Direct the CTE program, ensuring high-quality training, compliance, and workforce development opportunities.
  • Manage grant-funded programs, ensuring successful implementation, compliance, and reporting.
  • Oversee recycling programs, ensuring operational effectiveness, sustainability, and financial viability.
  • Drive cross-departmental collaboration to integrate FIELD's education, workforce, and sustainability initiatives.

Program and Grant Management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing grant-funded programs.
  • Oversee program evaluation, data collection, and reporting to funding agencies and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with grant sponsors, project partners, and funding agencies.
  • Lead proposal development efforts to secure new funding opportunities.
  • Develop performance metrics and accountability systems to assess grant and program outcomes.

Staff and Workforce Development
  • Supervise program supervisors and operational staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of professional development, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership in staff recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies, safety regulations, and legal compliance in all workforce operations.

Financial Oversight and Resource Management
  • Develop, manage, and oversee budgets for multiple program areas, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Optimize resource allocation and operational efficiencies to maximize program impact.
  • Oversee procurement, contracts, leases, and asset management to support operational needs.
  • Monitor expenditures and financial reports to ensure cost-effectiveness and grant compliance.

Risk Management, Compliance, and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, labor laws, and organizational policies related to workplace safety.
  • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard FIELD's programs, assets, and personnel.
  • Oversee the development and enforcement of FIELD's safety plans and emergency preparedness protocols.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and corrective action plans to ensure legal and regulatory adherence.

Stakeholder Engagement and Community Partnerships
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent FIELD in public forums, conferences, and advocacy efforts related to workforce development and sustainability.
  • Drive community engagement initiatives that support FIELD's mission and impact.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly oversees program supervisors, Corps supervisors, and operational staff.
  • Provides leadership and strategic guidance to multiple departments and cross-functional teams.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, goal setting, and staff development initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, nonprofit program management, or workforce development.
  • Extensive experience managing grants, contracts, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to oversee and grow large-scale programs, including CTE, conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong background in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are preferred but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Certifications in project management, nonprofit leadership, or grant management are a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Travel up to 50% required, including overnight stays and site visits as necessary.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed.
