General Summary:
The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for the performance and development of each of the company's accountants. This position will also be responsible for the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, the management of the budget process, the preparation of financial forecasting, and participation in financing activities when applicable. In addition, this position is responsible for providing Members with accurate and timely financial information.

General Summary:
The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for the performance and development of each of the company's accountants. This position will also be responsible for the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, the management of the budget process, the preparation of financial forecasting, and participation in financing activities when applicable. In addition, this position is responsible for providing Members with accurate and timely financial information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides oversight in the processes for monthly close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting (including capitalization of major software systems) and deal pricing for ACES and NRCO.
- Prepares monthly and annual financial statements.
- Creates and maintains reports from the accounting software system.
- Reviews and maintains monthly journal entries.
- Preparation, review and analysis of financial forecasts.
- Administrator of all accounting software packages. Directing and reviewing input into the financial system and continual evaluation of the system and processes to determine if enhancements or upgrades are required.
- Oversight of revenue analysis, including classification of revenue, review of new agreements, monthly billings, evaluation of revenue recognition and monitoring for timely collection of receivables. Administration of member fee structure and analysis of pricing for member and customer deals.
- Oversight for the capitalization of major software systems, including analysis of budget to actual and project reports for the implementation of major software.
- Leads the annual financial statement audit, including communication throughout the year with the auditors as issues arise and preparation of annual audit report and requests to support the financial statement audit.
- Leads the budget process and preparation of budget reporting to department heads, senior officers, and the Board. Directs the completion of three-year forecasts on a semi-annual basis for use in long-term planning and determining the need to secure debt financing.
- Provides analyses and recommendations regarding investment of the Company's funds, including daily management of investing and monthly and annual recommendations.
- Responsible for maintenance of lease and debt arrangements, when applicable, of the organization.
- Prepares analyses and research to evaluate appropriate accounting treatment, adoption of new standards and/or new transactions as needed.
- Oversight of coordination and preparation of state and federal tax income tax returns and property tax returns. Assist in reviews of returns for accuracy and monitor tax filing deadlines.
- Oversight of payroll processing, W2 preparation and benefits. Reviews payroll related tax filings and compliance.
- Assist in preparation of materials and support for Board Meetings and Committee Meetings; presentation of materials to Board, Committees and Staff Meetings, as appropriate.
- Assist in annual renewals of Company Insurance programs.
- Maintain and evaluation relationships with third party service providers, including banks, software providers, tax and audit service providers.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Will adhere to all ACES corporate policies and comply with all ACES regulatory requirements, including but not limited to NERC, FERC, and relevant state regulations, as applicable to this position.
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- 3+ years of work experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience with automated accounting systems, computers, and related computer software.
- Effective analytical reasoning and experience with financial analysis.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, build cross-departmental relationships and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to accept accountability.
- CPA preferred.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
