POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing a team that is responsible for the annual budget, cost accounting, treasury and analysis processes. Assists in preparing and maintaining financial models, projections and related materials. Interacts with the multiple departments across the system and completes projects where independent judgment required. Assesses the proper utilization of capital and operating resources in accordance with policies and procedures.

POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree required, preferably in the areas of Accounting or Finance. Masters degree preferred.
Active CPA license or in process of taking CPA exam within one year.
CMA, FHFMA, CMA preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
5 to 7+ years of experience preferably in a healthcare finance position. (Previous years of work experience preferred)
2 to 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to direct accounting resources and coordinate the completion of financial deliverables.
Strong decision making, problem solving and time management skills, with the ability to
oversee numerous priorities.
Effective verbal and written communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and lead select continuous improvement and accounting standardization initiatives
  • Collaborate with other leaders on projects to improve service line performance and improvement initiatives
  • Organize and perform P&L and balance sheet analysis and commentary along with comprehensive understanding of revenue recognition and analysis, projects and capital accounting, and other significant accounting processes
  • Prepares required disclosures and MDAs for debt agreements.
  • Support post close analysis, review, and reporting, including participation in division MOR and other operational reviews as needed
  • Interface with the accounting and operations leaders to collaborate on the accounting treatment of complex issues
  • Support division and hospital leaders with the summarization of the annual budget process and organization of budget directives
  • Support the monthly projection process for a division to ensure projections are entered timely and that variances in projection are properly explained
  • Establish and maintain cost accounting system.
  • Maintain cash flow projections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
