The Director of Group Sales will lead our team in exceeding sales goals for group business. This leader is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans, building and managing a high-performing team, and cultivating strong relationships with key clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in group sales management and a passion for driving revenue growth.
- Partners with DOSM to develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the group sales division aligning with overall company objectives in order to meet and exceed established individual and team sales booking goals.
- Ensures the sales call process is generating maximum profit for the hotel by implementing marketing strategies, analyzing trends, and tracking results.
- Leads the team of group sales representatives by providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Fosters a collaborative and results-driven work environment within the group sales team.
- Implements national brand sales programs by developing relationships and fostering both field marketing and revenue management relationships.
- Effectively manages and tracks the budget for group sales.
- Keeps current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and comp set activities.
- Manages, develops, coaches, and inspires the sales team to develop their skills to ensure that a high professional standard is exemplified, and monthly sales goals are met.
- Responsible for effectively managing revenue by utilizing market industry data and knowledge to secure appropriate business to maximize hotel profitability.
- Provides hands-on leadership in creating and implementing plans for the team to prospect, market, and drive diverse business for assigned hotels.
- Develops and implements sales training programs. Ensuring all company, brand, and department specific training requirements are met.
- Networks to identify prospective clients and maintains relationships with existing clients by discussing their evolving needs and assessing the quality of our company's relationship with them.
- Leads the development and implementation of new group sales initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key demographics.
- Continually develops knowledge of the business climate, geographic market, and competition for new and existing accounts.
- Responsible for identifying new group business opportunities and qualifying through developing and presenting compelling proposals.
Experience and Skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in hotel sales; or an equivalent number of years of education and sales experience.
- Must be knowledgeable in both Marriott and Hilton systems, and able to build brand awareness of hotel properties in the community and beyond.
- Proven track record of great guest services scores, meeting brand standards, solid business references and national brand experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with community partners, vendors, external parties, and across internal divisions.
- Ability to learn and understand profit and loss statements, as well as the ability to assist GM and DOSM to create and adhere to an annual budget.
